This morning Vince was out bright and early digging out another shrub.
The old truck is really getting a workout – pulling up shrubs and that’s what we’re using for our running around since the Honda is not right and is supposed to go in the shop Tuesday.
The truck doesn’t look bad considering it’s 26 years old. The air conditioner and the radio still work great so . . what else could matter? Don’t answer that. It would be even better if it didn’t have a white tailgate. I keep asking Vince to get the tailgate painted. When he put it on probably 8 years ago, he promised me he would get it painted. Every time I ask, he says “I bought some paint. I’m going to paint it!” That’s when I say “I kinda like it white!” 🙂
After Vince was done with the shrub, he said “Let’s go eat fish!” Didn’t we just do that last Friday? He’s been working hard so I said “OK but we have to come straight home because I have to can some roasts.”
We ate and then Vince said he wanted to run by Aldi. I said to myself . . probably Walmart and Lowe’s too! I was wrong. We didn’t go to Lowe’s but he did go to Walmart twice.
I use two cans of peas and two cans of carrots in Rita’s food (and other stuff) and that makes enough for maybe three weeks for her so I usually buy two cases of each when I’m in Aldi and they have plenty in stock. Today they had plenty so I got two cases of carrots but it looks like they’re switching all their veggies to the pull tab tops and I don’t like those, especially on those items I store long term. These cans won’t be stored long but I still don’t like those cans. They only had two case of carrots with regular lids so I got those. They had four cases of peas with regular lids so I got those. I also got a case of the big cans of tomatoes. We use a lot of those – sometimes three or four cans in a week. I have a couple of recipes I like to make that use canned whole small potatoes and I’ve been out of those for months so I got a case of those.
At Aldi they had an exercise bench that was regular $169 and it was marked down to $42. Vince got that. I am not real sure what he’s planning to do with it or where he’s planning to put it.
Then we went to Walmart. According to Vince, we need water hoses. We got those. I walked over to see about getting jar lids because Walmart had regular jar lids on sale online. They had a limit of 6 boxes (of 12). I wanted to see if there was a limit in the store but . . Walmart’s usual . . the lids are on sale if you have them delivered, pick them up curbside, have them shipped but not if you walk into the store and buy them. The Golden Harvest lids were the same or a bit less than the Ball lids that were on sale online and I’ve had good luck with them. They had about a dozen cases (24 boxes) so I bought a case of those.
Vince told me he was going out to the garden center. He found patio furniture that he liked that was regular $699 marked down to $499 so he wanted it. They had one left in the box so he asked them to hold it. We had to come home, take everything out of the pickup, then go back. I stayed home while he went back and got the patio furniture. It has to be put together. We have furniture we bought last year that’s still not put together so . . don’t know when we’ll be using that furniture but we have it.
I’ve about finished up what I have to do in the house and am going to go downstairs, play with Oscar for a while and then sit and stitch til bed time.
