I’m trying not to complain . . for so many reasons. My problems are temporary. Lots of people have way worse problems. At least I have air conditioning. No one wants to hear me complain BUT . . y’all . . it’s HOT! Our heat index is worse than it is in Texas and you know how much I complained about the heat there.
Vince wanted to go to town. I feel bad always saying no but for the life of me, I cannot understand why he would rather me go with him. If I wanted to go to Hobby Lobby or even drive to Branson to the cross stitch shop, I’d be perfectly happy to go alone, do what I want to do, not have him seeing what I buy . . but he always wants me to go.
We went to the pallet store and I walked around with him for about 45 minutes. Then I said . . I’m going to the car. Oh, my . . the heat index was 102. I started to turn the engine on so I could run the a/c but figured that would waste gas but then I figured . . what the heck . . I could be home where it’s cool but then I thought . . if he comes out here and I’m cool and comfy, he may stay longer at the next stop.
Anyway . . there were two more stops. I stayed in the car for both of them. He was quick so I can’t ask for more than that . . other than to be left at home!
When we lived in Texas, people would always say “at least it’s dry heat!” I thought that was crazy because when the heat index is 105, does it matter if it’s dry heat or humid heat? YES! It matters! I can walk outside here with Oscar for 15 minutes and come in and have to change my clothes! It’s like walking through a sauna . . dragging a 14 pound dog who is happy to sit and find dead earthworms to munch on. Gross!! I used to pry his mouth open and dig them out but no more . . if he wants to die from eating contaminated earthworm jerky . . so be it! I told Vince I need a muzzle to put on him before we go outside to keep him from finding dried, dead stuff and eating it!
OK . . end of the complaining . . well, maybe. I am going to re-chart a border and keep cross stitching.

I’ll take 111F here in the high mountain desert of the NW over your heat/humidity ANY day!

I’ve seen birds eating worm jerky before too. I wonder if it changes the flavor? LOL

Ughh! I am not going to try jerky, plain dead or fresh . . I hope! With the cost of groceries, never say never, right? 🙂

Sounds like the Gulf Coast of Texas! Heat index 106 this afternoon. Humidity sky high. For once there is no wind. It’s stifling. I worked outside most the day yesterday, not today! Bringing the big trash can back to the house almost made me sick. A friend is vacationing in Estes Park, Colorado this week and rubs it in daily!

Is your son by any chance helping out in Fort Wayne, IN? We are hugely grateful for the mutual aid work of employees from 6 states who are helping us recover from the Durecho on Monday night. Not only did we lose power (personally out for 48 hours), but we are having temps in the 90s which makes us appreciate the assistance even more. If Chad is part of this group, please share our thanks!

No. He’s been in the Detroit area for months. I hope y’all can all get back to “normal” soon!

Our heat index yesterday was 102 and it might have been that again this afternoon. It felt like trying to breathe underwater… We had a couple of fans running, but that’s it… Now that’s miserable. My glasses fogged up this afternoon while I was doing nothing but sitting in my chair… Our windows are not viable for putting in air conditioners, except in the far back of the mobile home… exactly the opposite end of the house from where we spend our time. Fans blow that through 2 rooms and the hallway, so it’s not cool when it reaches us, but I CAN tell the difference. I’ll take what I can get and pray for cooler weather. ?

Oh, Vivian, that has to be miserable. I hope this heat wave passes soon.

I think it’s OK to complain about the heat, because I’m doing the same. We just returned last night from a work trip to Nashville. I never left the hotel as the heat index was reaching 110 a couple of those days. Today will be nice here in SD, but then the 100 degree heat will reach us for the weekend. Too hot for me to even consider going to watch our granddaughter play softball.

I realise I must not complain as here in the UK yesterday we hit 88 degrees , for us that’s exceptional, it was humid. So glad I had finished all the gardening work and baskets and making planters out of 2 bathroom cabinets with someone else 20″ high picket fence pieces! Now I can sit and stitch under my canopy , but……….. storms due today , darn it.
