Some Oscar Happenings

Remember a week or so ago when we got yogurt and they gave us a pup cup for Oscar? I took his picture and it was so cute, I sent it to Walmart to have it printed as an 8 x 10. It was ready so I picked it up yesterday. It was less than $3 to have this printed and I love it.

I mentioned that I have several dachshund cross stitch charts. I was going to stitch them and hang them along the stairs and pictures of Oscar but I think I might want to put them on a wall in the downstairs family room where I can see them more. I have plenty of time to think about it . . they won’t be stitched any time soon.

He’s often sitting on the floor playing with his toys and some noise from the tv catches his attention and he will sit for a few minutes watching the tv.

Don’t you just love those spots on his back? Remember the heart on his neck? Did I tell you that it turned into more of a circle? I wanted it to stay a heart but it didn’t.

As far as his bathroom habits, I think we’ve turned a corner and he’s almost trustworthy. I can’t remember the last time he peed on the floor (tile) or on the pad. I only let him on the carpet after he’s gone out and peed so if he’s wanting to come into the living room, I take him out, he pees and then he can come into the living room. I’ve learned his pooping pattern and have done really good working with him to poop outside. Last week he was in the living room and we were playing. I guess I wasn’t paying attention to our schedule. He ran back into his little area that has tile floor where the pad stays and he pooped on the pad, then came back into the living room to play more. This has taken longer than I thought it would but I’m pretty happy with how it’s working out now. I still wouldn’t trust him on the carpet if I wasn’t watching him and if he hadn’t just been outside. He still doesn’t let me know when he has to go out but we go out 20+ times every day. Rita does tell us when she has to go out and I keep thinking Oscar will pick up on that but so far . . he hasn’t.

We have so much fun with him and I’m so happy to have him but I’m really happy he’s growing up a bit, doing better with the bathroom habits and getting easier to walk on a leash.
