Vince and I had a great day yesterday. The only not so great thing was that we took Addie back home. 🙁
My kitchen is in a bigger mess than usual because I have all the jars of carrots still sitting on the counter; the big canner is still on the stove and there’s a lot that needs to be picked up in there. We had leftover egg bites that I heated in the toaster oven and toasted the leftover sourdough biscuits for breakfast.
I told Nicole we’d meet her at 3 to return Addie but I not figured out what we would do for lunch. I knew it would be a late lunch because it was almost 10 when we had breakfast. Vince came downstairs and asked if I wanted to go eat Mexican, which is kinda on the way to take Addie home. Addie loves eating there so I said yes. We timed it so we could eat, then go straight from there to return Addie.
On the way back to our house, we stopped by Braker Berry Farm. They have the best berries and vegetables. We got fresh tomatoes, cauliflower and cucumbers. They had honey but they were out of the large jars but the young man working said the guy was “just down the road” who has the bees and he might have large jars of honey. We called him and he said his wife was there and she had some so we went by there. She was a super nice Mennonite lady and she visited with us for a while. She had three little girls out playing and they visited with us.
The people who live out that way have no other houses near them. Being out there makes me miss having a bit of land but driving back towards good medical care, decent grocery stores . . I know I don’t want to live that far from everything again.
After we got home, the guy who’s going to help us re-do our landscaping came by and spent an hour or so. He mostly showed us some shrubs that need to go which made me very happy because, most of them are things I didn’t like . . burning bush too close to the house, one that we’ve tried to kill and it keeps coming back so today Vince is going to start working on digging up the burning bush. There are three or four of them on the side of the house and they are huge . . not going to be an easy task. Also in the back, where we have a tiered terrace like place, there’s some kind of low juniper or cedar-ish stuff going. We’re going to pull all that out and when I say “we” . . I mean Vince. 🙂
He helped us decide where to plant some of the plants we bought from the native plant sale.
Once the landscape guy left, we had to go to a friend’s house to take care of her pets. Got that done. Got home and it was after 7 and we hadn’t eaten yet. Vince said “Do you want to go somewhere and get something to eat?” I told him I couldn’t think of any place I’d want to eat. He said he couldn’t either so we heated up soup, made sandwiches and ate at home.
Addie had pretty much pulled all the covers off the bed last night so I just stripped it, washed the sheets and put them back on. If I don’t do it as soon as she leaves, I forget about it and then it’s time for her to come back and the sheets haven’t been washed so I got that done last night.
I’m going to can meat sauce today and can it so other than that, I hope to be able to cross stitch all day.
