Note to Self: Put small travel pillows and small quilts in the car and keep them there!
This morning when Vince was waiting for results from the second set of blood tests, Addie could not stay awake so I asked her if she wanted to go to the car and sleep. She did.
When I was driving back and forth from Texas to MO, I always kept a pillow, a quilt, an extra jacket and a few other things in the car. Today I was washing I had those things.
Addie used my jacket for a pillow and Vince’s jacket to cover up with! I thought I could lean the driver’s seat all the way back because it will lay almost flat, but I couldn’t sleep. The hospital is right on the side of I-44 and it was noisy. I thought I could sleep through anything but .. could not. I was also concerned that Vince might need me or they would discharge him and I’d be sleeping in the car. I had my phone but he didn’t have his.
I did tell Addie that if anything like this ever happens again, I’ll write her a note, tape it to the bathroom mirror, leave one of our phones with her with phone numbers for close neighbors and the number of the phone we have with us. Chances are she would have slept til we got home if I hadn’t woke her but I didn’t want to leave her sleeping, have her wake up and not know where we were.
I could see the happenings inside and outside the house from my phone and I could have talked to her through the phone but .. I’m not quite ready to leave her home alone! But, I will put my travel pillows and two small quilts in the car and leave them there.

A sleeping bag is a very cushy thing to sleep upon and could be used in the winter if needed. Plus it will roll up .

Is Vince alright?

Yes. He will see the doctor Monday or Tuesday and they’ll probably tweak some meds but hopefully, it will all be an easy fix. Thank you!

I’ve always kept a couple of thick, heavy towels in the car year round. Winter, I make sure i have a blanket or 2 just in case. Glad you had what you did. So hard to leave them alone isn’t it?

We so rarely use my car and we have all kinds of things in Vince’s car – usually several extra jackets and there is a pillow in there. I didn’t even remember that and saw it today. But since I was driving Vince to the hospital and it was dark, I wanted to drive my car that I’m more familiar with and wasn’t even thinking about Addie wanting to sleep in the car. I’ve now put two travel pills in there and I put two fleece type blankets in there for now. Before winter, I’ll put a heavier quilt in there.

Praying Vince is ok now.

Thanks, Nelle. He’s doing better. The doctors seem to be having a hard time getting the bp meds right.

So glad to know that!
