Today was the day we picked up our monthly Azure Standard order. There are so many new people ordering, it’s getting harder to get some of the things. The people picking up today were joking (maybe) and saying “Stop posting on FB and Instagram how good they are so we’ll be able to get our stuff!” This was our third month to pick up. The first time we were there, the drop coordinator said she had never seen so many people there and I think she’s been doing this close to 10 years. The second time, there were more and today there were more.
Vince and I estimated there were 20 people there today and two huge pallets of grains and flour. Pretty amazing to see what some people buy. One lady was telling me I should try their cheese if I hadn’t already. She said she buys 10 pounds of their pepper jack cheese every month!
This months order included:
- 25 pounds of carrots
- 25 pounds of rye berries
- 25 pounds of green lentils
- 5 pounds of black lentils
- 100 pounds of artisan flour
- 2 pounds of buttermilk powder
- 1 pound dried apricots
I divided the buttermilk up into three jars, vacuum sealed two of them and kept one in the fridge. I divided the black lentils into three bags, with 3 cups each and vacuum sealed those. I kept out 4 cups that I put in a jar and those are the ones I’ll use first. Some of the carrots I’ll can this weekend, some I’ll keep out for munching and juicing. Everything else will go into 5 gallon buckets with Gamma Seal lids.
One of the things I’ve been trying to get is pearled barley. I’m down to my last bucket of barley and will keep trying to get more and hopefully get it before I run out.
