Addie is a picky eater so when she’s here, I try to plan at least two things she will like. All three of us love hamburger steak with rice and gravy and corn. In fact, Addie expects that meal at least once when she’s here.
In addition to the hamburger steak, rice and corn, we had kale chips and roasted kohlrabi with parmesan cheese. Addie wouldn’t touch those last two even though I encouraged her to try the kohlrabi. I figured I wouldn’t push it because it’s something her parents will never cook.
I used two pounds of ground beef so we’d have leftovers. Since Addie will be here pretty much all of next week, and Vince and I may have things she doesn’t like, I can heat up the rice, corn and hamburger steak for her. I was able to freeze some and stick some in the fridge.
Tracy says
One of the characters in a book that I am reading has a picky eater in her family. She says to her “Just taste it, what’s the worst that could happen – you taste it and you hate it?” I thought it was a good way to get a child (or an adult) to eat something new that was easier than coaxing and prodding, sort of a challenge.
