At least here, today was the last day of school. The plan was that I was going to pick Addie up and except for one night, I’ll have her for the next 10 days. Here’s the picture her mom took of her leaving for the last day of school today. She’s growing up way too fast!
My friend, Sarah, and I haven’t talked in ages. We used to talk every day. She called me yesterday and I was busy. I told her I’d call her later. She’s a night owl so I waited til after Vince had gone to bed and I had folded the last of the clothes, unpacked the dishwasher, put the few remaining dishes in the dishwasher and I called her about 12:30 a.m. We talked for 2-1/2 hours, which made it 3 a.m. when we got off the phone.
With Addie coming today, I had planned to put clean sheets on the bed downstairs where she sleeps and vacuum the sewing room where she likes to hang out with Boots. She loves re-arranging my fabric, reading and playing her game. It’s a Nintendo I think but I’m not sure.
So, I went to bed a few minutes after 3 a.m. I knew Oscar would be up before 6 and he was – about 5:40. I took him out but didn’t feed him, put him back in the crate and I went back to bed. I set my clock for 9, knowing that would give me time to get the things done that I needed to get done before leaving here about 2 p.m. to go get Addie.
Just as I was getting back to bed, Nicole called. She knows I’m up early and she said “You DO know Addie gets out of school at noon today, right?” Nope . . did not know that. A bit of change of plans – I had to leave the house at about 10:50 to pick her up! I decided since Addie had only slept on the sheets twice, the sheets were fine, changed the alarm on my phone to go off at 8, went right back to sleep and slept for 2 hours, got up, vacuumed the sewing room, got dressed, still had time to do a few other things and was on time to pick her up!
I’m thinking it will be an early night for me tonight . . unless I take a nap this afternoon.

Naps are good!
I am so sad for all those kids, parents and grandparents who lost friends, children and family in the shooting at Uvalde. That is one of the most horrible things to happen. WHY do people feel the need to do this? Then this morning one of the teacher’s husbands went to his wife’s memorial to put flowers down. They had been sweethearts since school and were madly in love. He died of a heart attack this afternoon. So, I guess he really did die from a broken heart. So sad for everyone.
Please keep Adie safe and if she asks, please tell her there are bad people but the chances of them coming to her school are very slim. This is a scary time for kids right now.
