Yesterday Vince and I were leaving the house and just when we got to the corner of our lot, I looked and there was a cardinal sitting on a post. I asked Vince to stop while I got a picture. You can barely see him sitting there on that post.
The little trees in a line are the Little Giants that we planted last year. There isn’t a ton of traffic on the road but those trees, along with the older trees, will give us some amount of privacy . . some day.
I didn’t even notice how green everything is til I looked at the picture. After being in Texas for almost 10 years, I was starving for green grass and green trees and flowers that bloom. I didn’t realize how much I missed all that til I see a picture of this area so lush and green.
Kentucky was pretty . . maybe as pretty as this part of Missouri but I think I enjoy it so much more now after having not had green for so long. I’m so thankful to be here and thankful this area is where we’ll stay til “the end!”. 🙂

Beautiful – lush and green! We hear the cardinals here in the morning and evening, but they are shy about being seen. I saw one at my feeder briefly yesterday morning. But as soon as I moved in the window he fly away.

It’s usually lush and green in my part of Texas, but this year we are having a drought. The green is slowly fading to dull green and the cracks in our clay soil are deep. The weather man says 30% chance of rain this weekend, which basically means we still won’t get any. We planted a “woods” on our back acreage thirty plus years ago and have two pairs of nesting cardinals, lots of mockingbirds, and lots of blue jays.
