There are some men who do cook. I read in the comments that some of your husbands cook. One of my good friends in Louisiana NEVER cooks. It’s been 40+ years ago when she was working they were going to have a covered dish luncheon at work. Someone asked her what she was going to bring and she said “I don’t know yet. I’ll have to ask Roger what he’s making!”
Vince is totally lost in the kitchen. We lived in the house in Texas for almost 10 years and he had to stop and think to remember where the plates were kept. Forget about him finding a pot or a spatula.
Last night we had this conversation:
Vince: Do we still have some strawberries?
Me: Yes. They’re in a jar in the kitchen fridge and they’ve already been washed.
Vince: I was thinking we could have waffles and strawberries for breakfast.
Me: That would be nice! I would appreciate you making those!
The look on his face. He truly thought I was serious and he wasn’t sure how to respond.
Vince: Don’t we have a new waffle maker?
Me: Yes, you found one at the pallet store. If the instructions aren’t in the box, it can’t be too hard for you to figure out.
There was a long silence.
Me: Eggs are in the fridge. We have buttermilk and plain milk – whatever your recipe calls for. I would like bacon with mine. There’s bacon in the new freezer. Take it out and put it in a pan of cold water and it will be defrosted in 20 minutes or so.
That was the end of the conversation. So far, I have not seen waffles being made but we do often eat breakfast around 10 a.m. so I’m still hoping . . .

Too funny! I agreed to my husband retiring three years before I could on the condition that he had supper ready every day around six. I had a 45 minute drive to work, so this worked! He did a great job, but promptly turned it back over to me the moment I retired!

CAN my hubster cook? Yes, he can feed himself when I’m not here but he does simple meals and often at least 1 dinner out. Our (42y) marriage deal has been “I will cook or clean but not both”. He prefers to do dishes and he does not complain about how many there are when I do a complex meal. He only does them once/day (after I go to bed), so I do have to be accepting of that fact.
I can’t wait here if Vince actually makes the waffles 🙂

We would starve if I didn’t cook and clean up. My husband can barely unload the dishwasher and when he does, often I find most things left on the counter because he “doesn’t know where they go”. I was recently in Florida visiting my sisters and left my husband home alone. He made hot cereal from the individual packages for some breakfasts and didn’t eat breakfast other days. He went to fast food for lunch and dinner every day. That would drive me crazy. He tells me “I did it once, so I don’t need to do it again.” Talk about lazy! And yes, he is extremely over weight and won’t do anything about it. We are both in our mid 70s so he isn’t going to change any time soon.I am just thankful that he did take care of our 5 dogs. They were all healthy when I returned but I think they were glad I returned.

So funny!! My husband can cook a few basics, so he wouldn’t starve if I wasn’t here. But he’s also a very picky eater. I’m guessing he wouldn’t try using a new waffle maker either.
Both sons-in-law love to cook and do frequently. And my daughters both appreciate cooking together with them. My dad used to take over the kitchen on weekends because he loved to cook, and really loved trying out new recipes. I love to eat, but have gotten very bored with cooking the same old things for the picky eater in the house. LOL So I love it when you share interesting recipes, even if I don’t make them.

My husband cooked and baked. He was “at home” in the kitchen but not a fan of the dishwasher! He would wash dishes by hand before he would load the dishwasher! He cooked, we cooked together. He made the very best pico de gallo among many other foods. Our sons knew how to cook, had kitchen and cleaning experience when they left home.

Chad loves to cook and does most of the cooking at their house. He didn’t get that from Vince. I’m not complaining. Vince does plenty of other things.

Oh that’s hilarious! I’m going to tuck that away for when one of my boys tell me that waffles sound good! One will starve, and the other would give it a decent try.

I often worked all night as an RN Christmas Eve. So my darling made Christmas Dinner for my family. He does cook all his own meals as we actually do not like the same things and he is a really picky eater.
