The first two colors I’m using on Thirza Priscilla Dawes are not showing up well on the linen I’m using (Fox & Rabbit’s Up in the Attic).
The jury is still out on the yellowy green (DMC 3348) that’s used in the border. I am going to leave it for now, go on and stitch some of the motifs and come back to it. I may even wait til last and see how all the other colors look. I’m thinking an aqua or sky blue might work well with the darker green but I want to see how all the other colors look first.
It’s hard to see but on the left border, I made four stitches using on what will be the bottom of a bird. It’s DMC 841. I knew the color was going to blend but had hoped with several of the stitches together, it might show up better but it doesn’t.
I switched the DMC 841 to Classic Colorworks’ Ye Olde Gold. It shows up a little better. I’m also going to leave it for now but may come back and change it later. There isn’t much of this color used in this piece but, if after stitching more, that part of the bird doesn’t show up well and the rest of the bird stands out nicely, I’ll rip these stitches out and change them to something else.
That’s all the stitching I’ll be able to do til later this evening. All I want to do is sit and cross stitch but . . duty calls!
