I feel like I got a lot done on this project in the past week. I’m using Victoria Clayton Silks for the floss and the fabric is the called for Picture This Plus Wren, though I’m using 40 count and 36 count was called for.
I had done about all the brown, tan and gold I could do and was so ready for some color. I stitched the green leaf first and had planned to stop but then saw the color of the pinkish leaf and had to do that one too. I’m loving this piece.
Even though I want to keep stitching on it, I’m going to put it away until the purple floss I’ve ordered arrives. It could happen today but more than likely, it will arrive on Monday.
The house is the focal point and I want it to be the perfect shade – something that will show up but won’t look too bright and bold for this piece. I think I have three colors arriving today or Monday and there are a couple of others I could try if none of the first three work.
Most of the hard counting and spacing is done and I can pretty easily find the right spot for everything now that I have some reference points. I also want to make sure the house fits into its space before I stitch too much of the motifs that are really close to it. I can manipulate the smaller motifs easier than I can make the house smaller.
This pink colored flower in the top right is a great example of when I feel like I should change a color or go with it. I stitched the spine using Strange Brew. It is almost exactly the same color as the fabric and did not show up at all. If there were a stand alone color, I would have changed it but since it’s surrounded by the pink, it’s fine.
The Strange Brew is the conversion color for the house so if none of my purples work and I end up having to go with something else, it will not be Strange Brew because it is going to blend with the fabric, even with a lot of stitching using the same color thread in one concentration.
I will work on Thirza Priscilla Dawes for the next few days . . at least til through the weekend and probably through Monday since I’m guessing that’s when the purple floss will arrive.
