Addie and I shopped today til I was seriously about to drop (which doesn’t take much shopping for me). Our first stop and our last stop was Walmart. She decided to get Bath & Body Works gift cards for her mom and the teacher and I thought we could get those at Walmart and not have to go to the mall so we stopped first and bought those at Walmart.
While at Walmart, she saw some bib overall type shorts in the women’s section and she wanted to go to Old Navy to see if they had some for kids. We left Walmart and went to the vet to get some treats for Oscar. Then we met Vince at the Hibachi restaurant.
After we ate, Vince went home and Addie and I went to the mall and went to Old Navy. She’s so sweet. She ended up getting a couple of sports bras (she’s not even 10 yet but starting to need something!); she saw a shirt that she thought would be so cute under the overalls but Old Navy didn’t have short overalls. I told her we would get the shirt and eventually we’d find some short overalls. I asked her if she needed socks. “No! I feel like I’m already asking you to buy too much!” I told her to get what she needed. I’m happy to buy things for her. She insisted she had enough – didn’t need anything else so we left there, went back to Walmart and she tried on the lady’s XS short overalls and they fit her fine so she got those.
I wanted to fill my car up with gas because I don’t know if I’m taking her back home tomorrow or if Nicole will come and get her or if I’ll meet her halfway. I pulled into a gas pump and an older (yes, older than me) lady pulled in for the pump in front of me. The lady had New York plates. Addie said “Why on earth would someone from New York come to Joplin?” I said “I bet her granddaughter lives here!”
The lady got out of her car and walked inside the gas station. Addie grabbed my leg and said “Granny! I do believe that’s the Queen of England! Maybe she has Corgis in her car!” OMG! I didn’t want to laugh at Addie – she’s much too serious, but it was so funny and, the lady did vaguely resemble the Queen. I said “I don’t think that’s the Queen.” Addie was still looking at her through the store window. She said “How can we be sure that isn’t her?” I told her “I doubt the Queen would be driving her own car and pumping her own gas!” That put Addie’s mind at ease – it couldn’t possibly be the Queen.
As we started to leave, Addie said “I think I should go walk past her car and see if I can make sure there are no Corgis in the car!” Nope, Addie . . we are not going to be peeking inside someone else’s vehicle!!

That was quite the shopping day!! Addie is so sweet to be worried about you buying too much. A great sign of a good character especially in one so young. The queen incident is priceless!! She is going to love that corgi cross stitch!

That is too funny! I would probably think the same thing if I was there! I love my Corgi and I received his wheelchair last week. I will have to take Pictures of him in it, so I will send a couple of them to you so you can show them to her. Tell her he is not in pain; he just lost the use of his back legs. We don’t think it is DM (dog version of ALS).

I’m so glad you got the wheelchair. How’s he adapting to it?

You could have suggested that Addie say “hello” to this woman, to see if she had an accent!! What a cute story!
