When I say “garden”, I’m talking about all my planting – flower beds, buckets, bins, raised beds . . back of the pickup, upstairs bath tub . . wherever I think things might grow! 🙂
Last year we bought five hanging baskets. They were pretty but I think we paid about $35 each for them. I told Vince that this year, I’d repot them with whatever we wanted to put in them. The Lantana was what actually grew the best in the full sun so I bought Lantana to use. I don’t know why I was thinking we had four baskets and I wanted to put two little plants in each basket so I bought 8 plants but then when I started repotting, I said . . wait a minute . . There are five baskets. I figured the two that were less visible would get one plant each and the rest could have two but then one of the hanging things on one of the pots broke so I went back and added a second plant to the two I had already potted with one. Now we have four baskets, and each have two Lantana plants in them. They will grow and fill the pots in no time. Before next Spring, I’m going to order wire baskets with Coco Coir liners. I should probably order those now and keep them. Who knows what this time next year will be like when it comes to getting supplies.
I put six Brussels Sprouts in 3 gallon grow bags (one plant per bag) and got them out. I’m guessing the temps are going to get too hot before they produce and they won’t do well. But, I never know til I try. I have seeds and I will probably start some in a month or so and transplant them in late August and hopefully they will produce before we have a freeze.
Now I have dill, basil, rosemary, parsley, cilantro, mint, oregano and thyme planted in pots. I have sugar snap peas, peppers (bell, jalapeno and ancho) planted in raised beds, eggplant and garlic in raised beds, potatoes, tomatoes and cucumbers in bags, ginger, turmeric, and horseradish in bags. Unless there’s something I’m forgetting, that’s it – I’m done with planting for this year.

–Now starts the watering and weeding part 🙂

I don’t have much weeding issue because everything is grown either in bags or raised beds. Watering – yes, it either has to be done every day if it doesn’t rain because it’s in raised beds or bags – which are good for weeding but not so great for holding water. 🙂
