We keep Oscar kinda fenced on on a tile floor area. It’s like a hallway but on one end is about an 8 x 8 probably sitting area – it’s almost square but has a little hallway going off it. There are doors that lead to the safe room, two storage rooms, a bedroom, a bathroom and a sewing room. We keep all those doors closed so he has a pretty big area where he can play.
I walked in today and had to laugh. This is the story of our life with Oscar!
He’s pulled the puppy pad off the holder for the 299th time today. His bed is upside down. He tries to crawl through that little opening and ends up running around for a minute or two with the bed on his back, which makes him look like a turtle with a blue shell.
He is a wild little dog!

Precious. I have to laugh at my weiners. All are so different. My alpha male is so quiet and reserved. His submissive sister is a total goofball!!!!

How cute is that! He is a wild man right now, just enjoy every minute of the puppy stage!

My weiner, Elvis, is completely insane. It’s very entertaining and exhausting. Thankfully we have a young, nearly feral, cat. They beat the crap out of each other

That’s the reason we considered getting a second dachshund but since we already have Rita, I figured with three dogs to walk and two of them being puppies, I could give up cooking, cross stitching and maybe sleep and just stay outside 24/7 with a dog on a leash so we decided against a second puppy. I would love to watch Elvis and your cat.

That is one determined little boy! Funny how our fur babies let us know what they think about things we do, or what THEY want. He’s beautiful!

I heard a couple of things on Wisconsin NPR that might be helpful for Rita or not! He was talking about making the surroundings better for blind dogs. He said that he sprays some strong smelling thing like lemon oil on things that the dog should stay away from likable legs or stairs and then uses a good smelling thing like a hot dog to scent areas where the dog is safe. This is because dogs are so scent oriented and they have a tremendous sense of smell. Then outdoors in a grassy area he puts snacks around so the dog can run around and smell them out. At any rate I thought it was interesting enough to pass along to you and Rita.
