This morning I got up, fixed breakfast, ate and went back to bed. It’s raining and it just looked like a good day for a nap. We just finished our second meal for the day (leftover roast beef made into sandwiches with jalapeno mayo, leftover potato salad and leftover baked beans). Vince said he felt like taking a nap and asked if I was going to take one. I told him “No, I already had a nap today.” He said “We can call that an extension of your night since it wasn’t too long after you got up when you went back to bed.” Nope, after sleeping two hours this morning, if I take another nap, I’ll be up most of the night and then I’ll be back on the sleep half the day, stay awake all night schedule.
I went out between rain showers and picked 5 asparagus spears. Now we have 7. There are two more I can probably pick tomorrow. I love picking asparagus. It sounds so fresh when it snaps.
These gentle, slow rains are so good for the garden and fruit trees.
Here’s a funny Vince story. Last summer we planted two plum trees and three peach trees. One of the plum trees has 6 little plums on it. We were driving the other day and saw some fruit trees. Vince said something about wishing we had more land and could grow more of our own fruit.
Me: Oh! We have 6 plums.
Vince: We do not!
Me: Yes, I counted them.
Then he’s looking at me like I’ve lost my mind.
Vince: I bought, dug holes and planted TWO plum trees.
Me: Plums . . I didn’t say plum trees!
Vince: You said plums when I was talking about trees!
Yes, I could have said “There are six plums on one of the trees”. You know how some husbands and wives can finish each other’s sentences? We will never be that couple! That’s ok . . being able to finish each other’s sentences is not a requirement for a happy marriage. Some form of communication is and sometimes I wonder about our ability in that department.

your conversations with Vince make me happier with my conversations with James. When he is let’s say confused I have to tell him, “You need to keep up in this conversation. Interpret man. When I lean right keep up.” lol I do laugh a lot. He mostly does not.
We got a lot of rain last night. I did plant a few flower seeds yesterday although my grandmother always told me never to plant on Sunday.
