A friend shared some of her rhubarb roots with me and I planted them yesterday. It’s rhubarb that’s been in her family for years so know I kinda feel like I’m part of the family.
I was going to plant them with the other rhubarb I have but decided to plant it in a different area so I could keep it separated and always think of my friend and her family when I tending to that particular rhubarb.
I know . . kinda crazy to get sentimental about rhubarb! 🙂
I was thinking about my garden yesterday and I thought . . if someone comes and takes anything from my garden, they’re probably going to be disappointed. What I will have planted this year will be ginger, horseradish, radishes that are similar to daikon radishes, ramps that will not be ready til next year, brussels sprouts, and then tomatoes, peppers and eggplant that might be kinda “normal”.
I’m so hoping the rhubarb I planted last year will produce at least a little this year. What I planted yesterday will probably not produce this year but maybe I got planted quickly enough that it won’t realize it’s been transplanted – doubtful but one can hope! Just thinking about a strawberry rhubarb pie or bars makes my mouth water!
