It’s kinda weird – we moved here so we’d be close to Chad and not have to spend holidays alone and . . we’re alone!
Chad is working out of town. Nicole had to work today. So, we’re alone.
It’s ok. I understand why but I don’t have to like it.
Yesterday Vince asked what we were having for Easter. I thought about making a pie but we haven’t finished a cake that I bought in Louisiana. I told him we had a small sliced ham. I could fix that with baked potatoes or scalloped potatoes or I could fix a pulled pork casserole that has the potatoes on the bottom, cheese on top and then make coleslaw. I don’t think he’s decided yet. It doesn’t really matter what I fix today because whatever I don’t fix today is what I’ll fix tomorrow.
I hope you’re getting to spend time with your family on Easter (if that’s what you want to do) and that you all have a happy Easter.

Hi Judy they have their own lives to live too. Just like you and Vince. It’s not like when you were growing up things have changed so much. I only live about 20 miles from my son don’t get to see them very often I just think they need time to their selves and they need to live their own lives. Have a nice Easter.

I understand but holidays are important to Chad too. Had he not been working in Detroit, they would have been here. They would have come when Nicole got off work and we would have had Easter dinner. I didn’t want Nicole and Addie driving back after dark so they’re not coming. They’re about an hour from us and we see them at least every two weeks normally.

Happy Easter to you! We have one son living with us so we get half the family. The other one lives over 700 miles away. Even though my son is an adult I still buy a Lindt chocolate bunny and some Cadbury eggs…lol. I buy the bunny for my husband too. This year I threw in some Dove chocolate peanut butter truffles just so I could have a couple. I love chocolate but I have cut way back on my sugar so I try to limit what I have. I’ll be making a ham dinner and then will be working in ham for the dinner menu for the next few days. I think the guys will like having a change from chicken…lol

Happy Easter! It is hard to be alone on holidays but we have been fortunate that our 2 children and the grandson are able to join us. My husband was career Navy so we spent a few holidays alone but found the best solution in adopting people as family. We moved back to the Midwest to be closer to family and found we missed our Navy family as well. After 20 years, I still have to remember to make deviled eggs as our friend Julia always brought them.

We spent Easter together, just the two of us and our two pups! I did have a good friend call and wish us Happy Easter. At least we know someone thought of us. There are so many people who don’t even celebrate a lot of the Holidays. Even the holiest ones!

My grandsons are almost 3000 miles away on Vancouver Island. They are coming next week for a visit. I haven’t seen the in over 2 1/2 years. Of course the Pandemic played a big part there. My son in law is in the Military, and as Veterans we understand the moving and distance away. When they lived closer, 3 hours away, we would drive down for the day to spend Christmas with them or Easter. I am looking forward to having them here even tho it means turning the house upside down to accommodate 4 extra people..I am rethinking putting the Murphy bed in my sewing studio.

We were invited to Encinitas, CA at our son’s home. We stay in a nearby hotel when we go down. It is a 2 hour drive. Their house is full with the kids and we would have to sleep on the couch. Too old for that! It is a 2 hour 5 minute drive from our house to theirs. Took longer this time due to wind, traffic and freeways being worked on. We drove home this morning. We had a wonderful time. We drove down Sat. and had to be there by 11:30. Went to lunch then to the most fantastic art experience. Todd had purchased tickets for us all to go see the Beyond Van Gogh 0The Immersive Experience at The San Diego Fairgrounds. What a moving, exciting experience which was about an hour long. It meant a lot to us as we have visited the home town of Van Gogh while we were on a trip to Paris, France a few years back. Do a Google search for it and see if it is coming to a major city or large town around you. It is not to be missed. Our grandkids really enjoyed it as well – both over 16. Sat nigh Todd cooked carne asada, beans etc for a yummy dinner and Sunday we took them to brunch at their favorite place and that was terrific. For dinner he cooked einkorn spaghetti and tossed it into a frying pan with olive oil, sautéed mushrooms and cilantro. Also had zucchini, and a beer can chicken he cooked on his Big Green Egg. Great dinner. This morning we had coffee at our hotel and headed home. A fantastic weekend and Easter!
