Tired Little Oscar

Yesterday evening, when I showed Oscar sleeping on my lap for the first time ever . . he slept for three solid hours. I kept thinking . . I could pick up my cross stitching but I didn’t. I just sat there and enjoyed every minute of having him being calm, still and sweet.

Addie had been here this weekend and when we would go out and walk, she’d run along ahead and he would chase her. When he got to the end of his leash, she’d run back towards me and he’d run after her so every trip outside was more exercise than he was used to getting.

He only goes in his crate when there’s no one downstairs to watch him but I had gone upstairs and cooked breakfast, then cleaned the kitchen, then been outside working for several hours. I would come in and get him and take him out to go to the bathroom and walk around with him several times but I think it makes him a bit stressed being in the crate with no one around. Also, he could probably hear us talking outside and didn’t understand why he wasn’t part of the activity.

His crate is in the bedroom and Saturday night, he was wanting to play with Addie when it was bed time and he was determined he was not going to bed so I ended up taking his crate out of the bedroom and he wasn’t happy about that but Vince and I had to get some sleep. He was quite vocal for a little while but he calmed down though I don’t think he slept as well as normal so, he must have been a tired puppy to have slept that long on my lap.

I guess just having Addie here is a whole different routine and Oscar wasn’t used to it. It’s hard to believe he’s been here six weeks and this was the first time Addie had been here for the weekend but they were gone to Louisiana for Spring Break for two of those weekends.

She’s doing cheerleading again this year so my time with her during the summer isn’t going to be as much as I had hoped either. They have practice during the week and games on Saturday. I’m glad she has a bit of a social life and she’s having fun but I miss my time with her. Oh well . . I’m glad I have Oscar!
