Addie goes to Starbucks with her parents and she loves the “pink drink” there. Starbucks isn’t somewhere I’m going . . even for Addie. She’s been telling me how good they were so I told her to see if she could find a recipe online and I’d make something close. There are many recipes online, many of which have some kind of acai “refresher” and I didn’t have anything like that. Addie was sure that Starbucks uses freeze dried strawberries and we had those so that worked.
I had hibiscus tea so I brewed up a batch of that and sweetened it. I had sweetened coconut milk and Addie assured me there was a “hint” of coconut in it so I added a bit of that. I only put about 2 tablespoons of the sweetened condensed milk so that can should last through at least five or six batches of the drinks. Then I poured in a bit of whole milk, tossed in a handful of freeze dried strawberries and used the immersion blender.

Addie said it wasn’t exactly the same but she said it was really good. Vince and I both liked them.

I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for that! I’m with you; I was really irritated when I was giving a friend a ride and she wanted her usual stop at Starbuck’s. But i did.

Starbucks may have lots of other “stuff” in it that we cannot pronounce….lol…..but yours is definitely healthier!

This probably doesn’t help, but I was curious so I got the ingredients list from the Starbucks website:
Ice, Strawberry Acai Base [Water, Sugar, White Grape Juice Concentrate, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Natural Green Coffee Flavor, Fruit And Vegetable Juice, Rebaudioside A], Coconutmilk [Water, Coconut Cream, Cane Sugar, Contains 2 Or Less Of Tricalcium Phosphate, Coconut Water Concentrate, Sea Salt, Natural Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Gellan Gum, Corn Dextrin, Guar Gum, Vitamin A Palmitate, And Vitamin D 2], Freeze Dried Strawberries

There’s a whole lot of stuff on that list I don’t need. I’ll probably never have a real one but mine is pretty good and I’m happy with it.
