For those of you thinking about using grocery store potatoes for seed potatoes, please watch this video. She used Yukon Gold and Russet from the grocery store and got almost 300 pounds of potatoes from $10 of grocery store organic potatoes. Good investment, huh?

I was always told to never use potatoes from the store to plant because they were treated to prevent root growth. ..always use potatoes meant for that purpose. Having said that, I’ve thrown out potatoes on the compost pile from the store that got rubbery, and they grew like crazy. Maybe it was just a ploy to get people to pay more for seed potatoes than the cheaper store-bought variety…

I’ve never heard not to plant storebought potatoes and since I’ve done it many times and always had success, I’m going to say it isn’t always true though sometimes, it may be.
