Vince has been asking for a BIG breakfast. I think when I start the day out making a mess in the kitchen, then by the time that’s cleaned up, it’s time to start the next meal. We usually eat around 3 but a lot of times, it’s after 9 before a big breakfast is ready. I sometimes tell him I’ll cook one meal so he can choose but today, since he really wanted breakfast and since we were smoking salmon, I went ahead and fixed breakfast.
We’ve been married 25 years and I don’t think ever once have I used a storebought can of biscuits. I don’t usually make biscuits with layers but today I did. We sat down to eat and Vince said “You’ve never fixed canned biscuits before.” I said “And I still have not!” He thought the biscuits came out of a can! These are the sourdough discard biscuits and I only had 1/2 cup of discard so I made half the recipe. The back right one is the one made from leftovers so it didn’t have layers.
When I was little, my grandma would make biscuits with layers. I would pull as many layers apart as I could and pile them up in a bowl. My grandma’s kitchen was always warm and she always had homemade butter that was soft. I’d add too much butter to my bowl and pour cane syrup over the top!
This morning I did separate a few layers, put butter between them, stack them back together so the butter would melt, but I didn’t add cane syrup . . though we do have some.
Then I made a double batch of dog food for Rita, packaged that all up and got it in the freezer.
Then I stirred up another batch of the Anadama Bread. It’s in the pans rising now.
The salmon is smoking . . should be about done now. We’re going to run it over to Jeremy & Angie; then we have to go to Atwoods and get another harness for Oscar. He’s outgrown his. We have another one but it’s kinda bulky and doesn’t fit him very well.
So . . will there be any cross stitching time today? Who knows!

Those biscuits look amazing! Lucky Vince never having store bought biscuits since marrying you! I bookmarked the Anadama bread as that looked good when you showed the baked loaves. I need to go get some salmon and get to smoking it a la Vince. We’re supposed to get some much needed rain so it will have to wait a day or two.
