This stitch along jumped out and grabbed me! 🙂
I was watching Contented Stitcher’s Flosstube #36 the other night and about the 21:40 point, she started talking about a new SAL for Mighty Oak. This is in the Blackbird Designs Winds of Autumn booklet.
The stitch along will start May 1 and the hashtag is #bbdmightyacornsal.
Mighty Oak was already on my schedule for December so what I’ll do is switch my June start, Little Red Chair, with the December start. It’s doubtful but I could have Mighty Oak finished and framed by fall. (stop laughing!) It isn’t huge. It’s 119 x 185.
I just love this one and I’ve loved it for a long time!
Quite a while back, I ordered Victoria Clayton’s silks for this project. Then, as I was looking at the picture of the finished piece, I love the variegated shade of the mustard house so I was thinking about switching back to overdyes for the variegation but when I looked at the silks, there’s some variegation in there so I’ll stick with those.
Not sure what fabric I’ll use but I’m sure I have something here that will work.
Anyone else want to stitch this one also?

That is a beautiful piece! I tried to get the Winds of Autumn book a few weeks ago at my LNS, but they were out. I love the giant crow strawberry in the book.

Sometimes that book can be hard to find. Yesterday 123 Stitch had it in stock. I haven’t checked today.

I have the book and I want to stitch it, so I’m in!

Yay! I do think it will be a fairly quick stitch.

I pulled this one out after watching that flosstube and started pulling some floss for it, although I’ll likely start on it before the SAL since I don’t do Instagram. I’m trying to decide if I want to change some of the colors to brighten it up a bit.
judy.blog@gmail.com says
Are you using DMC or Anchor? I’m still waffling about which fabric to use!

I think I have most of the Weeks called for but haven’t finished pulling them. Alot of mine look too similar – just due to being hand dyed – so I have to get them al pulled and see what I want to switch out for something else in the stash.

Nevermind. I was thinking about A Saviour’s Praise and not Mighty Oak. Too many new projects in my head.

i love all things BBD so i just ordered the book from Cecilia’s samplers. Can’t wait!

I keep wanting to get back over to Cecilia’s but I hate driving anywhere near Springfield.

I’m in!! I already have the book. I’ll be using over dyes to stitch mine and I’ll look what I have in fabric. I may have to order fabric. I’m also doing the SAL with you called Blessed. I’m really enjoying it. Hugs,

…It’s lovely but I think I need to pass on this one. I’m sitting up watching local news and working on Blessings. I want to get it and New Year Sampler finished before I start another major project.

I would love to do it. When I went to Brick City Stitches in the fall she ordered the book for me and sent it to me. I have some of the floss pulled and I’m going back to Brick City Stitches in a few weeks. So hopefully I can find fabric and the rest of the flosses. I bought the book specifically for Mighty Oaks.
judy.blog@gmail.com says
Hopefully Brick City will have it. There are a lot of linens that will work with this one though.
Kim Webb says
Yes, that’s why I liked going into the shop so you can look at the fabrics. I think I might like it to be a little larger so may pick a lower count fabric. And I really like working with 2 strands of thread so that would be better for me personally.
judy.blog@gmail.com says
Yes, if I liked two strands, I might do this one on 32 because I love that house so much.
