Poor, little Oscar! He has so much energy. It seems like I spend so much time trying to run off some of his energy. We go outside and walk. I walk. Oscar runs circles around me, jumps, flips, runs full speed, then stretches out in the grass, then jumps up and does it again.
We throw the blue man and he runs and gets it and brings it back to us. We throw it again and he does the same thing. He seems to have endless energy!
He wants so badly to play with Rita but she doesn’t want to play and I think he scares her or, at least makes her uncomfortable. She isn’t really sure where to go to get away from him so, most of the time, she stays in her little fenced in area, which is what she did before Oscar came along.
I think that’s the cutest picture of him sitting there in front of her fence, so badly wanting her to come out and play. Rita is at the back of the fenced area and I know she’s thinking . . get him away from me!
You can see the brown fence in the foreground – that’s what keeps Oscar off the carpet.
He’s so cute but he is so busy and so full of puppy energy!

I had three older dogs when my nephew brought home a puppy. The three were small dogs and the puppy was lab mix so he was as big as they were. They learned if the jumped on the bed or couch he didn’t know how so they could get away from him. It didn’t last long, but by the time the got the hang of jumping up, they were more used to him. But they just could run and play with him like he wanted. I ended up taking him to a doggy daycare some so he could play with dogs his size. The 3 littles are now gone and the big is old and doesn’t want to run nearly as much. He now is content to sleep the day away.
Oscar will grow out of the boundless energy stage and soon just want to curl up and sleep next to you all day.

I enjoy watching him play and romp but I will be happy when he’s content to sit next to me.

I actually made a *smooch* noise at the picture. I do not do that!

He is so “smoochable”. He can be a rascal but he’s also the most loving dachshund I’ve ever had. When he’s tired, he wants to be held and he wants his head up on my shoulder. I know he’s going to outgrow that but I love it!

Aww, sweet. I just saw the picture of him on Vince’s arm. You’re right, he will outgrow this, so I’m glad you’re scooping it up!

3 out of my many Dachshunds never outgrew that snuggle stage. Thankfully 1 is 6 yrs old and still with me His sister, not so much.

Nice to know. Thanks. Speck would ALWAYS sit in my chair with me but he definitely outgrew the snuggle stage.
