Yesterday after a reader asked about a place to share photos and discuss our projects, I was thinking about a Facebook group. As I mentioned in my response to her comment, there’s always Instagram but I’ve never become really comfortable using Instagram so I thought a Facebook group might work well so I mentioned it to Jo. She liked the idea so she set up a group for us. You can join here. You will already have to be a Facebook user to join so if you want to join and are a FB user, we’d love to have you.
It is a private group. Only members can post and see what has been posted.
Another thing I mentioned to Jo is maybe for us to do a larger stitch along (SAL) once a quarter and then have monthly SALs with smaller items. No one HAS to participate in any or all of them and, lucky for me, no one has to finish anything! 🙂
Jo and I both understand there are some who don’t use Facebook or Instagram, and I do understand many of the reasons for it. Some days I wonder why I still use either of them but . . it’s really the best and easiest option for sharing photos and getting comments and questions answered so . . if you wish to join us, we’re hoping to all become one big, happy cross stitching family there! 🙂

I’m glad you went with Facebook. I find it easier to see what I want to see in my groups.
Now to get my rear in gear and get the fabric!

Another suggestion is that people ‘watermark’ their photos. Once a photo is uploaded to facebook they can use the photo for any of their purposes. The language in the agreement says that they can do that. If someone doesn’t want their photo used by facebook they should not upload it. But if they put their name on it at least others who see it know who it belongs too.

The best thing to do is not upload photos you would not want shared. I think so long as we’re uploading photos of works in progress and projects we’ve made from purchased charts, there’s probably not a lot of chance of someone using it for other purposes. Most anything we post these days (and things we don’t!), there’s a chance of someone snagging it and using it. But, the only way I know to be sure it doesn’t happen is to not post.
