Yesterday must have been a good day for me. I was awake for more than two hours. I’m beginning to think I have the flu. I had it once when Chad was young – over 30 years ago. I was this sick. I did have a flu shot. As soon as I don’t take aspirins for a while, the fever comes back and that makes me feel awful so I’m trying to remember to take aspirins on a regular schedule.
I thought I could stop taking the main decongestant yesterday but last night. They make me sleepy so I’m going to try to hold off taking one again til closer to bed time tonight. Goodness . . I feel so feeble and sickly!
I don’t know how I would have dealt with Oscar without Vince here. I guess my advice is . . don’t get a puppy right before you get sick! 🙂
But, I did get a bit of cross stitching done yesterday.
I would like to think I could finish this today but with my record the last few days, I’ll be doing great if I get another pumpkin stitched.
For those of you knew to cross stitching, if you struggled to differentiate between the symbols in the first pumpkin (B) and the fifth pumpkin (2nd S), join the crowd. For the first one, I was stitching and didn’t have a pen or marking pencil to mark off my stitches. When I got to the second one, I stopped and got a marking pencil. I use and a lighter pencil to mark the “S” and then just a #2 lead pencil to mark the stitches I had already stitched.
In my previous stitching, I haven’t come across many symbols that were that hard to see which was which – most of what I see in my stitching are similar to the other pumpkins where it’s easily discernible where the two colors are so . . don’t be disappointed if you struggled a bit with this one.

Sorry you are sick. The news station in our area said the flu is bad this year, there is a new and long-lasting strain (some folks are down for 2 to 3 weeks). Lots of rest and liquids for you. Feel better soon.

Are you supposed to take aspirin when you have the flu? Or is it just children who should not take aspirin?
judy.blog@gmail.com says
Probably not but I swear by Bayer aspirin. One aspirin will about cure everything for me.

welcome to the party… hubby has had it for 1 1/2 weeks and i’m on day 5. luckily tylenol is taking care of throat soreness and headache, prescription cough pearls let us sleep at nite, and food is all about grazing. he has boxes of kleenex while i opt for a roll of toilet paper. we sleep a lot! anything takes too much energy. i don’t know if it’s the flu, but fortunately symptoms are on the mild side so i’ll put that in the plus column. thankfully there is no puppy here, and our “pet deer” take care of themselves ;0)

I’m sorry y’all are sick but I’m kinda glad others have the same thing. I was beginning to think I was dying. How can someone normally so healthy be so sick for 6+ days? Hope y’all are both better soon.

It must be something going around. Yesterday I slept late, then really did nothing, took a two hour nap and went to bed early. Then slept late today. I am trying to get at least a few things done today, but I really just want to go back to bed. For me it is no fever, but a big sinus headache. I hope you feel better soon!

I hope you don’t have what I have. It’s been rough.

I just heard on the news that this year’s flu shot is only 16% effective.

It sounds like omicron my sister had it and she came back positive for omicron….

We have tests here and I thought about running one but didn’t. I hope your sister is better soon.
Robin says
If you take one of your tests, dr told friend you should do two..one and then a second next day. Very often, tests come back negative first time ???? And that’s what happened to her..first one was negative, second one next morning positive.

I have to go back to the doctor Tuesday for unrelated bloodwork. Maybe I’ll get them to do one.

Hope you are feeling better – I also saw in the news that this year’s flu shot was not effective. If you are feeling nauseous, try drinking ginger ale or ginger tea. Ginger ale was a old childhood cure-all.
Hope you can post at least one thought per day – just to let us know that you are still hanging in there!

Thanks! I really do believe it’s the flu.

Another thing to remember – it is allergy time. It is very windy today in OKC with winds from the south and the tree pollen is very high…. but I bet that the pollen is from the cedars in Texas since I don’t see any tree activity here right now. When I first moved here, the cedar pollen did not affect me, but now……
So, I’m carrying a mask around when I go outside so I can cover my mouth and nose from the pollen. I’m not worried about C-19 or the flu, but a good dose of pollen will make my life miserable. And the masks actually work against most pollens. It is also the time of year that I take an evening shower to rinse off my body and hair if I have been outside in the garden. I learned the hard way that sleeping on a pillow with pollen is not good for me.

We have tons of cedar around here and they are orange – totally full of pollen. I have been wearing a mask outside for a month, knowing how bad the cedar pollen is here.

…I hope you feel better soon. It sounds miserable.

Thanks! I’m sure I’m on the tail end of this now.
