Tuesday when we went to town, Vince said “Let’s try to go to town just once a week to save gas.” I was thinking . . how about once a month? Really, we rarely go farther from home than 15 miles and other than going to get Addie once a month or so (which is 55 miles away), I could easily go out once a month.
Yesterday Vince had been outside working . . basically picking up what the dogs have left behind. It’s amazing how much more there is with two dogs instead of one. Hey . . at least it’s outside and not inside!
Vince came inside and said “I think we need to go to town.” Hmm . . is it next week already? 🙂 I didn’t say that. I did say “OK .. why do we need to go to town?”
Vince felt like we needed to think of EVERYTHING we’re going to need for the “foreseeable future” and get it. Prices are not going to go down and shortages may get worse.
The whole time we were there throwing things out at each other ..
- Vitamins – got plenty
- Puppy pads – should get more
- Crackers – just make bread and homemade crackers instead of trying to save crackers for a long time
- Kitchen trash bags – we have plenty
- Paper towels and toilet paper – plenty
- Soap – plenty
- Toothpaste – plenty
- Ziploc bags – should get more
- Foil – have plenty
So, we went to town. Neither Aldi or Walmart had the puppy pads we like, nor did they have any ziploc bags. When we got home, I ordered puppy pads from Chewy and ziploc bags from Sam’s.
So much for our trip to town. We did come home with a few things but it wasn’t long term preparedness things – just every day stuff.
Now Vince tells me he thinks he’s going to run to town today because . . it may snow tonight. Wait . . we might get 1″ of snow tonight and you need to go to town today? He cannot stay home! But, if that makes him happy, I’m happy for him to go. If I’m lucky, he’ll bring home a fish sandwich from somewhere! 🙂

I am very lucky that I only go to town once a week and when I substitute it’s about five miles from my house. I also have a small car. But I really feel for my daughter and son-in-law who drive 45 minutes to work. I have driven my husband to physical therapy this week which is about twenty minutes away. I do need to fill up today. First time since gas prices have gone crazy, so I’m sure I’ll be shocked at the total.

I found washable puppy pads on Amazon. They are really great, don’t allow moisture through, and they have those non slip bumps on the bottom.
Just thought you should know about them, instead of filling up the landfills with potty pads. 🙂

That is what I have under Rita’s little fenced area. I did order 6 of the puppy pads you’re talking about but much smaller than Rita’s. My goal is to have puppy pads only for emergencies . . not what either dog uses regularly.
