The Kitchen

This is the first sign that normalcy is about to return to our home!

It wasn’t expensive but I don’t even remember where I ordered it but arrived just before the floors were redone so it’s been sitting in the garage waiting til we could put furniture back in the kitchen. I’m so happy to have it set up.

The top shelf will hold all the larger spice containers. They take up so much room in the cabinet.

I still have room for two more and I’m sure there are at least two more in the spice cabinet. The containers are three deep. I just stuck them on there but as I use them, the ones I use the most will be on the front row.

I had the little plastic containers but I’ll get some that look better. The one in the middle has a few pears, avocados and other small fruit.

One of these days I’ll get to Tuesday Morning and look for some long wicker-ish baskets. I want one that will hold all my whisks and one that will hold large spoons, spatulas and other tools. I may put cookbooks on the bottom shelf. That’s the shelf that will collect the most dust

Not sure what will go where but one thing for sure .. I will fill it up!

Love the little shelf. I was thinking for now you might leave it blank–you have a new little four legged monster that might love the taste of cookbooks. 😀

He will not be in that room. At least until he’s big enough to not fit through the stair spindles, and til he’s trustworthy with his bathroom manners and chewing, he will not be upstairs at all.

I was looking at the metal shelf legs, sitting on that new, recently finished hardwood. Hope that extra hard finish holds up!

The metal legs have rubber/plastic feet. Vince checked that before setting it up. We used the most durable finish available – which is supposed to hold up to dogs so I don’t think rubber feet.

It looks great, and such a great way to store those large bottles of spices. I think the cookbooks on the bottom shelf is a good idea. It will let them be near if you need them but out of the way the rest of the time. None of my dogs have ever chewed books, they wanted more solid things like a chair leg, but it is smart to keep him away until he is more mature. Just think this time next week you will have everything back in place.

I have those big spice bottles (daughter in restaurant food sales). We have ours three deep in the pantry too. My husband made a tiered wooden stand for them so I can see to the back row. Might be something Vince can make for you in his shop.

That would be great. Thanks for that idea.

If you remember where you ordered this self from I would love to get one just like it for my cook books.
    Thanks!
