Questions Answered

This morning I awoke to lots of questions so I’ll answer them here.

Q: Where did I get Oscar’s bed?
A: I think this is the one I’ve shown. (Chewy bed)

Q: Which sous vide am I using?
A: I’ve had this one over a year so there may be a better one out there but I’m very happy with this one.

Q: Which grinder do I use?
A: Here’s a blog post I did a couple of years ago that has my entire history of grinding wheat. To answer the question, though, I use a KoMo Classic. It wasn’t my first grinder. I started with a smaller one, a Family Grain Mill, which was significantly less expensive and is a great mill but it doesn’t grind the flour as fine or as quickly as does the KoMo. I kept the Family Grain Mill because it has a hand crank and IF there’s ever a tiLme we have no power, I can still mill the wheat by hand (though Vince would probably have to be the one to do it.

Q: Does the soaker (for the bread recipe I share a day or so ago) need to be refrigerated?
A: No. It needs to “ferment”, though it doesn’t do much in 12 – 15 hours.

Q: Where do I find coarse ground corn meal?
A: I still have dent corn that I grew in Texas and dried so I grind it with the wheat mill but the Mennonite store near here sells it so I bought a bag when we were there yesterday. Bob’s Red Mill also has it.

Q: Is Oscar “my” dog . . as in attached to me at the hip?
A: Yes! Let me walk out of his sight and he panics so we’re working on NOT letting him get so attached but I think dachshunds seem to get really attached to one person, even if there are several people providing them equal amounts of attention.

OK . . I think I covered all the questions I saw this morning.
