Today we’re going up to the Mennonite Market. It isn’t far from here and actually, from what I’ve heard, it started out as a Mennonite Market and a German family bought it but mostly Mennonite ladies work in there.
Last year I gave Chad some various types of wheat to experiment and he’s out so he was talking with me the other day about which types he wants to order. I don’t think they have a place to store 50 pounds of hard red, 50 pounds of hard white, 50 pounds of this or that so I’ll see if they have smaller quantities at the store there and I’ll get those for him. Otherwise, I’ll just scoop out a couple of gallon zipper bags of what I have and share with him.
We need to run up to Trimline Barns in LaRussell for something Vince needs. I can also buy fresh eggs up there. I usually get them from Chad and was going to get Addie Friday and planned to get eggs but now there’s a slumber party so Addie isn’t coming here. I love that she has her own little social life these days, even though it means I don’t get to see her as much.
We’re hopefully going to go everywhere we need to go today because tonight it’s supposed to rain and maybe snow. Tomorrow should be a great day for sitting in the basement and cross stitching.

Suppose to rain here all day tomorrow. I substitute, but I put in a no work day so I can stay home and hibernate!

Hi, Judy. I’d love to see a blog post about what types of wheat you like and why. I’m thinking about investing in a grinder and starting to grind my own, so any info you could share should be most appreciated! Just pretend you are talking with Chad. 😉

I can do that!

I have the grinder, I bought groats for oatmeal bread (bought a flocker also for oatmeal) and Rye for rye bread. Is hard red wheat higher in protien or hard white wheat? I need to order 50# for bread making. I order all from Pleasant Hill Grains. Thank you.
