I don’t know how long I’ve had this stylus. I got it when we lived in Texas so I’ve probably had it two or three years.
The end is kind of a rubbery meshy like thing. I use it with Pattern Keeper because I’m marking off stitches – sometimes rows of stitches and it’s easier to do it with a stylus than with my finger. When I’m stitching downstairs, I use the Galaxy tablet and I leave it downstairs because I use the Chromebook upstairs. I will sync the tablet/Chromebook at the end of every day I’ve stitched so no matter which one I pick up to use, it’s in the right spot.
I have another stylus upstairs but when we came down to the basement, I didn’t bring the Chromebook that has Pattern Keeper on it because I planned to use the Galaxy tablet and the stylus that I keep in the sewing room.
Once it was too late to to back upstairs, I realized that I couldn’t find the stylus. There’s a stand by my chair and I always make sure I put the stylus and my little scissors under the project bag and my fabric and floss are always in the project bag. I don’t put the scissors or stylus in the project bag because I sometimes bring the project bag upstairs to work on whatever is in it.
I searched and searched for the stylus. My scissors were right there. Addie hasn’t been here since I worked on a project downstairs. I gave up and was using my finger to mark off my stitches.
A few days ago – I think it was Friday, I was in the sewing room and saw the stylus . . over by where Boots likes to sleep on the sofa in the sewing room. He had chewed the end almost completely off. Thankfully, he didn’t get it off because he might have swallowed it.
I learned a long time ago that he LOVES pencil erasers so I have to put pencils or mechanical pencils – anything with an eraser – in a drawer and make sure it’s closed. Now I know . . he thinks the end of the stylus is an eraser. I showed it to Vince and he said “Don’t you have another stylus?” Yes! Upstairs and I can’t get to it now. So, he got online and ordered one for me. It arrived Sunday or Monday so now I will put the stylus and my scissors in a bag I can zip, and put it in the drawer with the pencils, because since Boots knows I use “something with an eraser on the end”, he’ll always be looking for it.
Vince also ordered extra tips. I told him it isn’t even so much a matter of losing the tip . . I don’t want Boots getting it and swallowing it.
Cats!

Hi Judy. I’m going to be stitching along on the Blessing project. I’m one of the many who haven’t cross stitched in years. Back then I used to make a copy of the chart and use a highlighter to mark off the stitches I made. I really like the idea of being able to do that on a phone/tablet. I always see you mention Pattern Keeper is the one you use, but I don’t think it is available for Apple users because I can’t seem to find it in the App store. Have you used any other apps for that marking off stitches that you might be able to recommend?

You’re correct. Not available for Apple at this time. I have not used other apps. But . . if you turn into a “can’t put it down” type cross stitcher, you can buy a Chromebook with a touch screen for about $100 and my Chromebook works great.

I remember looking for a stylus on Amazon and the price differences were amazing. I ended up buying 4 in a pack for a little more than one would cost for a slightly different style. I know that one is attached to my kindle cover so it is easy to use. The others are somewhere in the house!
