Almost every night a cat visits the back porch. There’s a gray one that has a bit of striping. There’s a solid gray one. Last night, there was a black one that made me take a second look . . he looks so much like Boots but without the white feet and not quite as plump.
I can’t say this is the same possum that has been here several time before but it looks like the same one.
It isn’t a video – I just snagged the picture from the video.
This is the ugliest possum and I have a hard time believing they all look like this around here. It looks like his hair looks thin and he is way overweight. I don’t mind the cats coming around but I could do without the possum.
I bet I’m going to have to put up some kind of fencing around my strawberries. Do possums eat strawberries? I bet they do!

I think opossums will eat anything/everything. They are pests!

Yes, they were the biggest killers of my chickens.

Opossums eat ticks! They are great for pest control.
judy.blog@gmail.com says
If I had my choice, I’d find another method of pest control. Do not like them.

Guineas. Probably wouldn’t work in a community with closer neighbors though. Pretty noisy & flighty.

Guineas wouldn’t work with 45 acres in Texas so no . . not about to try that here.

-I keep seeing that about tick control, but I do not like possums, either. I once read something that was kind of admiring of possums, and I just thought, “Really?” The image I carry is of when I looked through a window at one eating cat food we had put out, and it snarling at me, baring it’s sharp, crooked little teeth. Ick

One got into our chicken coop one evening and we didn’t know it and he got closed up in there and killed about 6 or 8 chickens. They look nasty to me and I don’t want them hanging around our back patio where we walk Rita.

…If I was a possum, I’d eat strawberries!

Really. He probably knows they’re out there and it’s just a matter of time till fresh strawberries will be there for him.

Possums are good. They eat ticks and all sorts of bad insects. They do not carry rabies and will not hurt other animals. Unless it is chickens, they love chickens! LOL

Hubby used to be gone 4 nights & 5 days every month on a business trip. One night I let the dogs out (in the middle of the night, of course) and they found a HUGE possum on top of the 5 foot tall chain link fence. It had to be close to 50 pounds…he was massive. I grabbed my broom and starting whacking it as I was afraid he’s have a run in with one of them. He hissed at me extensively and finally left – never again did I see HIM, but there were others I chased around with the broomstick. I hoped my neighbors never saw me — can’t imagine what they would have thought watching a middle aged woman in her nightgown chasing (and whacking) possums.
