Someone . . anyone . . please tell me you remember Stringbean. The only shows I ever remember watching on TV as a kid were Hee Haw and Sing Along with Mitch Miller. That may explain my dislike of TV all these years later. 🙂
I’m stitching on a bunny now and he’s rather tall. His body is stitched and I’m working on his legs. He’s kinda like a “human bunny” standing on his two legs – a whimsical character. But, with his body stitched and just starting his legs, he looks way out of proportion.
This morning I said to Vince . . he looks kinda like Stringbean. Vince looked at him and smiled and said “Yes, he does.” But, he didn’t sound real sure of his response.
I said “Do you know who Stringbean is?”
He gave me one of those “of course I do!” looks and said “Yes! One of Chad’s friends!” Good guess, Vince . . but totally incorrect.
I started laughing and he said “How the heck am I supposed to know who Stringbean is?” I told him . . That’s probably a good thing. Please forget that I know who he was . . and I showed him the picture. Vince mumbled “You aren’t right!”, which is something he tells me often and . . he’s probably right! 🙂

I do remember Stringbean from HEeHaw. Grandpa Jones went up one morning to get Stringbean to go digging for sassafras. He discovered Stringbean and his wife had been killed in their home on the mountain.
I do not recall if the murders were ever solved.

I didn’t know who Stringbean was, so I Googled him. I love his costume! Too bad he had such a tragic and violent death.

I had no clue. I looked him up. I never watched the show though.

Absolutely know who Stringbean was. And I loved Singing Along with Mitch Miller. Following the bouncing ball.

I always loved Stringbean also. He lived not far from my brother and sister-in-law! A lot were upset when he died. He was so lovesble!

I remember Hee Haw, because it was my Grandpa’s and Father’s favorite, but I was young enough when Stringbean died, that I don’t remember it. My parents probably thought it wasn’t something I needed to know about due to my age.

His and wife’s murderers were sentenced to 198 years each. John Brown was paroled in 2016. Easy to research more info. I do remember when this happened, though.

Oh yes I remember him quite well. Such a tragedy with he and his wife. They used to have a show on called Mysteries and Scandals and they did a program on the tragedy. Too much evil in the world. But we loved watching he and GrandPa Jones together–in real life they were best buddies.

I definitely remember who String Bean was. He was an old school entertainer/comedian from the Grand Old Opry and even before the Opry began. Someone was introducing him years ago and could not remember his name, the guy called him String Beans, and the name stuck. Porter Wagoner, the guy who launched the career of Dolly Parton often had him on his show. Porter called him Strang Bean. String Bean was 6 foot 5 inches tall, and the clothes he wore made him look even taller. Some of his humor seems ridiculous to us today, remember, he was born in 1915, and grew up in a very hard time in a completely different world than us.

I think it would do us all good to have that old time humor again.

I do remember Stringbean, I also remember he and his wife were murdered. He did not trust banks and they suspect the people who killed them was looking for money. I also remember someone bought their home and found money stored in the fireplace!! Such a senseless murder!

I remember String Bean, but I had no idea he and his wife were murdered. So sad, so senseless.
