Day 4 of the Basement Adventure

It was a beautiful day here. Vince worked in the garage some. He made at least one trip to the storage building and brought home a pickup load.

He came inside late morning and asked what was for dinner today. I was planning on having soup and the bacon wrapped scallops. He said he really wanted fried chicken. He knows that’s never going to be a home cooked meal! There’s a chicken place over in Pittsburg, KS but I’m not crazy about it and I don’t think he is either. It doesn’t open til 4 and since neither of us drive after dark, it wouldn’t have been hard to get home by dark but we’d have to eat and come straight home. Then he remembered another place in town that has fried chicken and asked how I felt about going there. Fine . . they have fish.

I told Vince that’s about the least healthy meal I’ve had in a long time – fried fish, French fries and onion rings. I mainly got the sides because Vince’s meal came with mashed potatoes and green beans and I knew he wanted fries. He asked the lady if he could substitute the green beans for onion rings and she said no, he would have to order a side of onion rings so I got those.

On the way home, Vince said “Want custard?” I’ll never say no to that.

I’m pretty happy that we left the scales upstairs. I’d hate to see how much I’ve gained after finding those Red Velvet Cookies and eating out four days in a row. That’s it . . no more eating out.

Vince really wanted Chinese today. He asked me how much he’d have to pay me to go eat Chinese. In this town . . you don’t have enough money! I told him my feelings will not be hurt at all if he wants to go eat Chinese without me but I am not going unless there’s some place we haven’t tried and at least a dozen people I trust tell me it’s delicious and since I don’t know a dozen people here . . ain’t happening.

Maybe breakfast out one day next week. I have to have more blood work next week and since they want to do that early in the morning, we’ll probably grab breakfast out. That’s it . . no more eating out.

I got the laundry done today, we didn’t really mess up any dishes – maybe one bowl each and one insulated cup each. I’ll get those washed and my chores for today will be done! 🙂
