I keep wanting to say something about “when we’re at home” but we ARE at home, and while I’m so thankful to have this space to stay AT HOME, it feels so different. When we’re upstairs, I get up, and even our bathroom is past the closet, but I do what I have to do in the bathroom, then leave our bedroom and go into a little hallway and then into the family room.
In the basement, it’s almost like every room is a little “wing” of the family room. No matter how quiet I am when I get up, it wakes Vince. This morning, he said “I feel like I’m living in a jail. My cellmate wakes up and I have to wake up. To the right of the box, you can case the facing, that’s the bathroom and coming on around is the door to the sewing room.
It’s a basement and it’s a great basement but it’s true . . anywhere down here is almost like one big room as far as privacy goes.
Poor Vince! I likes to go to bed early and sleep a couple of hours longer than I do. But, it would be worse in a hotel so . . we’ll just make light of it all and be happy with each day that passes and gets us closer to being back upstairs.
Also, upstairs, Rita’s setup is in the breakfast room. It’s like she’s listening for any sign of movement in the bedroom and the minute she hears me get up, she starts barking. That dog wants to eat the instant she’s awake.
In the photo, the larger open area is where we have Rita’s little setup. Just before the photo starts is the family room, there are two storage room doors, then the safe room door, then the room that’s back a little farther is the bedroom,
