This morning I had to be at the doctor’s office at 9 for blood work. Vince was in a tizzy because I was going to town by myself. I get lost every time I leave the house . . according to Vince. Turning on one wrong road, turning into the wrong parking lot, not having a clue what street I’m on but fully knowing how to get where I’m going . . to Vince, that’s lost. To me, it’s just part of the journey. Before he left to go to the dentist, he said “Are you SURE you’re ok going to town by yourself?” Good grief, Vince . . it was just a bit over a year ago, I was driving back and forth from Texas to Missouri several times a year, through Oklahoma City and Tulsa and the wide open spaces of Texas. Yes! I can get where I’m going by myself.
I did fine and I didn’t get lost once . . not even by Vince’s definition of lost!
The blood work took 5 minutes, visiting with the nurse took another 10 minutes, waiting to be sure the UTI was cleared up (it was) took another few minutes. Then . . I was in Joplin . . could go anywhere I wanted to go without Vince wanting to know why I wanted to stop at each spot and what I needed and . . without having to go to a flea market! 🙂
My first stop was Hobby Lobby . . good grief . . that was Aldi . . not Hobby Lobby . . because their ad said they had whole frozen lobsters and frozen lobster tails this week. Don’t laugh! We can’t get fresh here unless we have them flown in live. The live ones are a whole lot better than the frozen ones but . . the frozen ones will be just fine so I went by Aldi to get lobster but . . I couldn’t eat before my bloodwork and by 10 a.m., I would have about eaten anything. I know . . not as good as fresh (not even close) but Vince won’t go to the sushi restaurant with me (Addie will), so I bought frozen sushi. I bought frozen scallops wrapped in bacon. I bought things Vince would never buy. I even bought two Almond Milky Way bars. I bought one for each of us but am thinking he’d never know if I ate both of them before he got home! 🙂
I also bought these Red Velvet Cookies.
These are SO good! Vince called and I was telling him how good they are. He said “Why didn’t you buy two bags?” I said . . What if we didn’t like them? What if they were too chocolatey for me? He said “I would eat them. Addie would eat them.” Yes, he’s right. I should have bought 4 bags! : )
The “creme” filling – it is so good and flavorful and not like those other sandwich cookies . . this almost tastes like homemade! And there’s lots of it. They are good! I should never have bought them.
My second stop was Hobby Lobby because to start that project yesterday, I had to use floss from my “master collection”. I want to keep every color of DMC floss so I have to replace any that I use so . . that’s done . . all back where it belongs.
I bought one more thing but I need to describe it so I’ll put it in another post.
From there, on my way home, I stopped at Culver’s and got fried fish. I used to like their fish more than I like it now but it was fish and I was hungry for fish so I’m happy.

I hope everyone knows – just laugh along with me and if something I say sounds wrong . . it is . . even when something I say seems right, it probably isn’t! 🙂

What a Coincidence! Today at Wal-Mart we bought “Oreo 110 birthday” chocolate confetti cake cookies. Haven’t tried them yet. I looked and looked all over the Oreo cookie shelves – they must have had 8 different kinds – but they did NOT have my favorite – Cinnamon Red Hot Oreos. I’ve only seen them one year, in July, and bought them twice. They were SO good, especially with milk.

I have never heard of Cinnamon Red Hot Oreos. I might be tempted to try those.

Sounds like once we get to ‘a certain age’ most of our hubbies start fixating on US — where are you going, do you know how to get there, WHY are you going THERE, when will you be back. Drives me crazy! I need to get away from him on a regular basis now, esp since he broke his ankle & I’m now his ‘nurse’ and doing everything that needs doing around here. Taking him to doctors office visits (for a boot, then a splint and finally the cast) was horrible. I finally started yelling at him to ‘climb off my a– and leave me ALONE’. I don’t need his direction as to what lane to be in, what speed to go, etc. That night he looked me in the eye & thanked me sincerely for all my help (that’s a first!) and I replied thank you but he needs to keep his comments to himself, I do perfectly well without those. It’s made the last couple of days almost pleasant. I’m still getting almost nothing done of my projects (quilting, re-organizing kitchen cabinets, need to clean and paint the fireplace rock, weeding….) but its peaceful!
