Yesterday evening I went to the top of the stairs to see the floor. The guy left the hallway light on because the switches are by the bedrooms and he needed the light to do the floor and couldn’t get back to it to turn it off. It wasn’t a big deal but it made me think . . that’s the crazy smoke alarm in the hallway that goes off the most. This would be an inopportune time for one of the upstairs alarms to decide to start beeping. OK . . let’s not think about that.
With the hall light on, that was the only part of the floors I could photograph without having to use the flash, which made them look a weird color and glossy. We actually went with a satin finish . . not sure what was on them before but they look very nice.
Last night Vince and I were sitting in our side by side recliners (just because that’s how they’re arranged) and he said “We might like staying down here and decide not to move back upstairs”. Hmmm . . TV? I didn’t say it but he knew I was thinking it.
It’s very quiet in the basement and l like that the windows are at ground level. From where my chair sits upstairs, I’m looking out from the 2nd floor and it’s a totally different view. I’ll be happy to move back upstairs but I may keep a project downstairs so I can hang out down here if Vince is doing something downstairs that doesn’t involve the TV.
It’s definitely easier going in and out to the garden and taking Rita out . . no steps from this level.

The floors look nice! When we had our floors redone we also went with a satin finish. Dirt/dust doesn’t show as much on it….lol

Great! That’s what I need. I’m not even sure what we had before but I think I like the satin better.

I like the lighter color (is it lighter?) and lose those negative thoughts. You’ve already found some positive things about staying in the basement. Score one point for you!

You sound like a very positive person! Much nicer going through life when you look at the positives first, and look for ways to make things easier. LOVE those floors…I’m looking forward to new flooring here, maybe next year.
