Every now and then someone will be here or I’ll be talking to someone and they’ll say “You are so organized” and my response is always the same .. I’m so unorganized, it looks like I’m organized!
This morning I was going to make a few floss tags. Where are the hole punchers? I need two – one for the large hole and one for the small hole. The small punch was in the tray right by my chair – where I thought they both were. Couldn’t find the larger one and finally found it under my chair.
Then, were are the strips I use to measure the floss? There are two. One is supposed to be in the pocket of the slip cover on my chair. No – not there.
I stopped everything, cleaned up around my chair (which I had done not too long ago), found everything and said . . that’s it . . I’m organizing my floss tag making supplies.
I found this little double decker box that had other things in it. Most of that stuff got tossed so now the box will have a whole new life.
In the bottom tray I put my little printer for photos and in the top tray I put all the things I need for making floss tags. The ruler, extra rings in various sizes. Scissors, the two whole punchers, various tags, and pencils and pens for writing on the tags.
Then, I made another little bag for floss tag making that I can grab and take with me, whether I’m going downstairs to stitch or to a friend’s or out of town and the floss for the project I’m taking isn’t already on tags.
An emery board, of course! Rings, scissors, pencils, the measuring stick for the floss and tags that already have both holes punched. There’s also a fresh package of sticky notes because I’m always needing a piece of paper!
Both the double decker box and this little bag fit right beside my chair, out of sight but easy to grab when needed.

I like those little double decker boxes too! They are great for storing all sorts of things.

I feel like you could be similar to me. I’m very mentally organized. I have plans (love planning!) but my physical organization is only critical when it hampers my mental organization.

Exactly. I can’t tell you how many times yesterday I thought about things to bring down and got sidetracked. Rita’s probiotics. Didn’t bring those down and thought about it three or four times. There have been at least four things Vince asked if I brought down and I said “I thought about it” but it was a thought I had as I had my list in my hand, no pen, and I was getting things on the list. None of it is life or death. We’ll be fine but yes, planning is great .. execution of the task . . not so great.
