The Rugs and Chairs

Thank you all for weighing in on my decorating dilemma. I’m so thankful some of y’all mentioned the threads on the solid red chair. Not only threads but cat hair, dog hair . . everything would stick to that chair and show. I don’t want to have to vacuum my chair every time I get up.

That’s just a picture from one of the ads. Poor Vince! I drove him crazy last night. He would not care if I decorated with pink, lime green and purple . . which would be my first choice of decorating colors, but he draws the line if he has to repaint a room so I can do whatever I want so long as the wall colors stay the same. I kept saying . . come look at this rug; come look at this chair. He finally said “If you don’t leave me alone, pick what you want and order it, I’m going to order something for you.” NO!! I always laugh because I love bright colors and I say Vince’s favorite colors are light brown and dark brown. That rug is kinda light brown and dark brown.

I kept looking and looking. I must have gone through 100+ pages of rugs but my heart was set on this one so . . I ordered a 6’7″ square rug to go under the breakfast room table. The table is almost 36″ square and I would like to have had at least 7″ square but . . I love this rug.

There is a slight problem. Between a door . .

. . and an air conditioner vent . .

. . the 3’6″ x 5’6″ rug wasn’t going to fit just placing it straight on the floor. Then I saw the picture posted above and decided I could do it that way – put the front feet of the chair on the rug, put felt pads on the bottom of the back feet of the chair and angle the rug.

Then I was running around measuring everything trying to find something I could lay out in the floor to see how it would look.

A bath towel! Except it was 1 foot too narrow and 6 inches too short.

I hauled in a dining room chair from the sunroom and the $50 microwave for when we’re stuck in the basement . . a chair and an ottoman. It’s going to work so the rugs are ordered!

Then, after reading the comments, I decided maybe I don’t want a red chair. I found this chair and I think I would love it but there’s no ottoman. The table has black legs and brown top. I think the chairs have black legs and wooden everything else. I’ll have to check .. I’ve only had the 16 years . . you can’t expect me to remember what they look like. 🙂

If this chair had an ottoman, it would be on it’s way here. I think this looks like a great chair to be in the breakfast room . . not too much like a living room chair but .. no ottoman!

The rugs should be here Saturday. We can’t put rugs back on the floor for at least three weeks – maybe four. The floor guy will go over all that with us. So, at least I got the rugs while they were available. Since I don’t know what I want for a chair, we’ll figure that out later.

Thanks again for the opinions. I may go back to the red floral chair . . I can always grab a piece of fabric that looks kinda similar and put it with the rug and see what I think.
