In January, I started six new projects and finished two! Most everything was planned and I’m loving having days to work on this and days to work on that and even though I want to keep working on whatever I pick up, I do love having designated days and times to work on each project. I need structure and I need my Enforcement Officer with her rigid rules!
I started New Year Sampler on Christmas Eve and it’s going to get a lot of time this year. I almost feel like it should be counted in the January starts but technically, it wasn’t started in January so I won’t count it. The projects I’ve started this year . . just since January 1, are:
Starts in January:
- Elizabeth Eyles 1799 – Started New Year’s Day
- And Heaven & Nature Sing – One of the January WIPGO projects started January 3, 2022
- Elle Brode en Lettres Carmin – The one strand project started January 15, 2022
- Cranberry Christmas – Sunday Stitch started because I finished the last one – started January 16, 2022
- Be My Valentine – a freebie by Colorado Cross Stitch. I mostly started this one because I needed something that’s simple and quick – instant gratification.
- Key to My Heart – This was Kitten Stitcher’s mystery kit and perfect for a Valentine’s gift for Vince. I’m hoping to have it finished and on his pillow by Valentine’s Day.
Progress:
- Elizabeth Eyles 1799 – The frame of the border is done all the way around – just to be sure it all met up and it did.
- And Heaven & Nature Sing – I stitched on it for 21.5 hours (the goal was 20 hours). Not a whole lot done but it’s a good start.
- Elle Brode en Lettres Carmin – This is the project on which I’m stitching one (and sometimes two) lengths of floss per day. It’s quite fun and I look forward to stitching a bit on it each evening.
- Cranberry Christmas – There were three Sundays I worked on this one. I think I can have it finished by mid-February.
- Be My Valentine – Finished! This one actually took a few hours to stitch.
- Key to my Heart – The words are stitched and I shouldn’t have any trouble finishing this one on time.
- Thy Love Divine – At the very end, I decided to rip out the bottom border so that slowed down progress a bit but not that much. I did a post on that yesterday.
Finished in January:
Eliza M. Stone:
Be My Valentine:
Fully Finished Projects:
Addie’s Valentine Stocking – The stitching was completed in December, 2021 but I got it finished into a stocking and filled it with a pretty little flower bundle I found on Etsy.
Focus Projects:
The two WIPGO numbers drawn for this month are #5 and #17 which actually are the same project for me so I will be spending 40 hours on Noel Sampler. Every day I will stitch one length of floss on Elle Brode en Lettres Carmin, and every Sunday I will work on Sunday Stitches but my other focus project will be For the Love of Nature and I’d love to spend a bit of time on New Year Sampler.
Total WIPS:
As of now, I have 14 works in progress.
Planned February Starts:
- Winter Camp, an event by Colorado Cross Stitcher. It’s a one color piece to be started by February 1 and finished by February 28. I am stitching Handprint on my Heart by Heartstring Samplery.
- Alphabet en Blanc – This was my first pick for Winter Camp, til I saw Handprint on my Heart, but I love this one so I’m going to start it also on February 1 and see if I can get it done by the end of February also.
- G. Leger – Will start on February 14. There’s still time to get the chart, floss and fabric if you’d like to start it with me. There’s not anticipated finish date on this one.
- If I finish Cranberry Christmas, which is my Sunday Stitch (only stitch on it on Sundays), Little Deeds Sampler will be my next Sunday Stitch project.
February Thoughts:
What goes on inside my head is rarely what goes on in real life but here’s what I’m thinking. I’m starting February with 14 WIPS. I will add three new starts, four if I finish Cranberry House but I’ll only start this one if I finish the current Sunday Stitch so . . going into February with 14 WIPS, add three new starts. Surely I’ll finish Key to my Heart, Handprint on my Heart and hopefully Alphabet en Banc, so that puts me still at 14 WIPS. Not sure how or when (or if ever) I will get that number down but it doesn’t bother me.
No doubt, there will be a project or two that will pop up, for whatever reason, that I feel like I have to start so . . we’ll see.

I have been wavering on my camp project, I think I have picked out 4 or 5 different ones. A couple got tossed right away due to size. I have it down to 2 both off of one pattern, but I think I have finally decided on the smaller one because I want to give time to WIPGO and my other working projects. I love your choices and maybe when I am back to buying I will pick them up.

It’s a tough decision! I hope you’re happy with your choice and get it done. I’m hoping I can get the Winter Camp project finished and get my WIPGO commitment done.

You got a lot done in January! With Eliza, I have my son’s name to finish (where the school name is) and then the last line and bottom frame. I will have to likely extend it a couple rows. I did my 6 days on Land of the Free but I finished out the rest of the month with For the Love of Nature. I finished the house last night and then packed it up. I hated to let it go but it will come up again in WIPGO. I don’t blame you for finding another start for Winter Camp. People were sharing so many wonderful charts! I was tempted to change but since I had everything ready to go with Alphabet En Blanc that’s what I’ll do.
