Yesterday I got all the projects I plan to start in February, checked all the fabrics and flosses to make sure I’m good to go. There were a couple of changes – kinda major changes:
Alphabet en Blanc – Winter Camp:
I will start this one on February 1.
This was my first choice for Winter Camp, then I came up with another plan but now I’m back to doing this one.
There are two fabric choices . . actually three but I’ve almost ruled one out.
When I bought this chart, I think in September, I had seen one someone had stitched on Aztec Red and I liked it so I ordered Aztec Red.
The more I think about it, the more I think maybe I will go with the Aztec Red fabric. Here’s my thinking – I have one wall that I wanted to use for redwork. It isn’t a huge wall and it’s going to fill up quickly because . . well, it isn’t going to fill up quickly. I keep thinking I stitch much faster than I stitch. But, I want the redwork wall to bed red floss on a lighter fabric. But, this red fabric is almost exactly the color of the red walls in my dining room and the red accents in my kitchen/breakfast room so I could find a place put something stitched on red fabric and . . what else am I going to do with that fabric?
I’m not even going to show the other fabrics . . decision is made. Thanks for the help! 🙂
Handprint on My Heart:
As I was going through charts, I saw this one and it reminds me of my grandma and I wanted to stitch it and think of her every time I see it. I thought this would work for Winter Camp, which has to be one color of floss. I thought this was one color but apparently, the vines are green so that’s not going to work for Winter Camp but I’d still like to stitch it in February.
The stitch count is 114 x 64. Done on 32 count fabric, which is called for, it will be 4 x 7-1/8.
I will use 32 count Petals Lugana and the Cherry Wine floss by Victorian Motto, along with some green.
Noel Sampler – WIPGO for February:
I will start this one February 2.
I’ve wanted to start this project for a long time! This is the project for both my WIPGO numbers for February so I’ve committed to spending 40 hours working on this one.
The fabric is 40 count Cream & Sugar by Fiber on a Whim. This one will be 10-7/8″ x 11-1/4″.
There are a couple of colors that aren’t going to show up much. I looked at the chart and the lightest one is slow flakes and a bit of snow under the house. The called for fabric is Parchment, which I have but, looking at their picture, those two colors hardly show up there either. You can’t really see the snow under the house or the lightest snow flakes. You can see the snow flakes stitched with the more tan color. If that shows up ok, I’ll probably just skip the white and make all the snow tan or see if I have a color that will work better. If I went with more of a tan fabric, there are other colors that wouldn’t show up.
The floss is all Victoria Clayton silks.
G. Leger 1898
I will start this one as a scheduled start, along with a few friends, on February 14.
It’s also Victorian Clayton silks and the fabric is XJuDesigns 40 Count Rocky Mountain. This one should be 12″ x 15-3/8″.
I found a G. Leger on Instagram that was recently finished and the stitcher has a great blog post about some changes she made. If you’re planning on stitching this one, you might want to take a look at this post. You will probably need to hit the “translate to English” tab.
I think I have a lot to do in February!

I like Handprint on my heart, and in the photo, it looks all red. I would say make it all one colour, the small amount of green may look odd, but I dont think all red would look strange.

That’s exactly what I thought. In true redwork, there are things that are stitched in red that normally wouldn’t be but you know how things play out in my head . . every time I looked at it, I’d think “I should have stitched that vine in green!” Since I already had the first project I had planned to use before deciding to do Handprint, I’ll just stick with the first project.

I agree, Handprint could be all red, or you could do it on a scrap of red fabric with white thread. That would be lovely as well.

It could be but I’d rather have it in red – more traditional.

…Have you thought about making the red fabric piece the center of your collection on that small wall?
