We have a bit of ice in the forecast for Wednesday. It isn’t much (I hope) but if we lose power, we lose the internet and my phone doesn’t work without internet so don’t worry if you don’t hear from me for a few days. If we get the amount they say we’re going to get, we should be fine.
Want to know something weird . . all this time I’ve wanted a gas stove so I could still cook if the power goes off. We’re going to be stuck in the basement because of the floors being redone upstairs. I’ll have the hot plate, the air fryer/toaster oven and a pressure cooker. What good are those without power??
We have the Camp Chef stove in the basement garage, as well as a couple of bottles of propane. I also have my backpack stoves.
I’ve cooked food for several days and it’s in the fridge downstairs, plus all the canned food is downstairs.
Those pictures were taken at Chad’s several years ago. He has the same little stoves/cookers I have.
We won’t be hungry! We have a fireplace in the basement, as well as a ventless propane heater (and we have extra carbon monoxide alarms) so . . whatever happens, we’ll be ready.
I’m just letting you all know so if I don’t post for a day or so, you won’t be concerned. You know it’s serious when I stop posting. 🙂

We also are expecting a winter event of ice on Thursday. After the horriable weather in Texas with the week of ice and no electricity we are having a lot of PTSD. We will be better prepaired this time. Water in pails in the tubs for comodes and water in pitchers on the counter to drink.
My daughter got a gas cook thing probably like you have here.
Cars are full of gas because we did have to use the car to sit inside of to warm up. We made it through a week so should be OK for one to two days this time. Texas still is not prepaired for this weather.

Most states are not prepared. It’s much better if the people prepare and don’t count on the states – there may come a time when neither the states or the feds are there to do what we think they should do. There are so many things that can happen – wind, fire, ice, EMP — you cannot count on someone else to do it for you. Vince lived through that week too but he was there alone and having to run a generator to get well water, running a small generator for the freezers and a small one for the kitchen fridge. It was crazy but he did fine.

We’re preparing for ice, then snow. I hope there’s not much ice.

Sorry. I just heard that all the ice appears to be going south of the interstate so . . that helps me but not you. Stay safe.
