Remember when we added the baker’s racks in the sunroom?
There was enough room for a third baker’s rack but it would have been wall to wall and the door from the kitchen opens just to the right of the shelves. It opens into the kitchen so it wouldn’t hit the shelves but I think it would have been awkward and not very attractive but, there was a lot of wasted space.
We decided to order a 30″ shelf unit (the baker’s racks are 36″). It isn’t as heavy duty as are the baker’s racks but it should be fine.
There will never be food storage in this room – it isn’t heated or cooled. In the summer, it gets HOT. In the winter, it gets cold. It’s basically more of a sun porch than a sun room I suppose. Anyway . . it works for storing pots, pans and gadgets.
In Missouri the first time, I had five or six 36″ heavy duty shelf sets and I kept a lot of stuff in the garage. Vince used the downstairs garage and the shop for his stuff. In Texas, I had the whole upstairs in the shop . . I think it was 30 x 40 and it was just rows and rows of shelves. Vince had some of his household type stuff on some of the shelves but I had all the room I needed or wanted. I kept all my empty jars, canners, etc. up there.
Here, we set up four shelf units in the garage for the overflow stuff from the kitchen. Those shelves here are a catch all. There are oil filters for the cars, there are cases of light bulbs, there are tools, there are cans of spray paint . . you name it and it’s on my shelves and there’s so much stuff in front of the shelves that I can’t get to the shelves. It’s not a good setup.
There’s no way I’ll bring everything in and put it on these shelves but the things I use the most are coming in. We still haven’t found the Bosch mixer but we will find it . . I hope.
Eventually I’ll get it all set up the way I want it. Most everything that’s on the shelves now were in the garage and you can’t even see any empty spaces where I moved everything! Too much stuff!!

I use the same type of shelving in my kitchen but I put my stock pots upside down on the top shelf to keep bugs from getting in them in the summer ) and use hooks to hang my cast iron from the underside of the shelves .

The top shelves on the baker’s racks are narrow and not large enough for stock pots. I’m keeping them hanging off the sides. The really large ones I’ll still keep in the garage.

I think it would be cute with a pleated skirt around the bottom half.
