This evening I decided to switch to stitching the orange parts of Thy Love Divine. The floss is Soie d’Alger by Au ver a Soie and the orange is #913. I had used the orange floss before so I reached into the bag to get it. This is the only project (I think) that I’m using this floss. Honestly, after using Victoria Clayton’s silks, I’m not real fond of this one. I keep the Soie d’Alger in floss bags and I also don’t like that. Whoa . . am I complainer tonight or what?
And while I’m complaining . . have you ever dropped a Corelle plate or bowl? I’ve used them for probably . . I don’t know . . since they first came out. I think I’ve dropped three pieces during those years (one of which was tonight). They shatter into shards . . a million shards! I dropped a small bowl and . . what a mess.
OK . . back to the the 913 floss – I reached in the bag, grabbed the floss ring and . . no orange floss. I dug around in the bag. Nope. I’ve only used the orange floss in this project once and it was months ago. I took the slip cover off my chair. No! Dug around under the chair, behind the chair. Nope – couldn’t find it anywhere.
I did not want to order one skein of floss and pay shipping, plus have to wait at least a week for it to get here from 123 Stitch. I just didn’t have a lot of options!
I decided to go downstairs and see what other options I had. I considered using a Vikki Clayton orange if I even have one. I knew I had orange DMC but didn’t want to use cotton floss with silk floss. I have all my floss in containers by the name/brand of the floss. I knew I didn’t have much Soie d’Alger. I opened the little box – four skeins in there and one was 913. Why on earth did I have a second skein? This skein had not been used. The little knot was still at the end. Don’t remember ordering a second skein but surely glad I had it.
Only 6 more hours to go on this project and I will have met my goals on both my January WIPGO projects will.

I have broken corelle before on my gosh it goes everywhere. And don’t be barefoot!
Glad you found another floss.

I too have broken a couple of corelle dishes over the years and it’s a huge mess to clean! Not fun to deal with when you already have a lot to do! About the floss….so weird you didn’t find the one you were looking for and great you had a spare! I was excited about the new WIPGO number release! My #17 was any new start so the Alphabet En Blanc we’re doing for Winter Camp will be perfect!! Somehow I feel like I’m cheating though….lol
