This picture popped up on a Facebook memory yesterday:
I’m glad to be here. I miss my chickens but they were a lot of work and with snow and ice here, neither of us needs to be responsible for taking care of chickens.
I do miss going out to the garden to decide what’s for dinner. Carrots, beets and kale that day. I would make pesto with the carrot tops, we’d eat the beet greens too so very little of the garden ever went to waste. What we didn’t eat, the chickens were happy to get.
I don’t miss the work of having a big garden – the bugs, the snakes, the weeds, the constant watering – but I surely do miss the fresh veggies.

I was always envious of your fresh veggies, but know that I could not do all that work myself. You just have to choose your priorities.
Those are gorgeous vegetables!

It was a lot of work and gardening was hard there but oh, they were so delicious!
