Vince was wanting to go to town this morning. Yesterday I made the mistake of showing him that there was no chicken of any kind at most of the Walmarts in town. I was going to make food for Rita today and I have a package of chicken in the freezer. I always buy another one when I use one but . . I am not desperate for a package of chicken. I can use canned chicken if I have to but by the time I need chicken again, more than likely it will be in stock.
This morning Vince decided he need cereal. You tell me . . does he?
There are 15 boxes of cereal in that cabinet and probably that many other places in the house. To be fair, two of those boxes are my cereal – the blueberry and strawberry shredded wheat and I think one is a box he bought for Addie but I don’t think she likes it so I’ll end up eating it probably.
You can see that the bottom shelf is one of his snack stashes. There’s also stuff on the middle shelf. There is another cabinet, not quite as big as this one, decided to Vince’s snacks.
I had to get another week of antibiotics for my UTI so Vince was more than happy to volunteer to run by the doctor’s office and pick those up.
He’s been gone over 2-1/2 hours. No telling what he’ll bring home. No telling where he’s been. That’s ok. He’s having fun. I can’t imagine anyone liking to shop as much as he does but I’m sure there are things I do that he can’t imagine why I do it.
I’m kinda hoping he comes home with pizza or something. I’m in the middle of canning. All we’re having is leftovers so it isn’t going to take much effort.

We’ve been having trouble finding chicken here in NC and also my daughter in SC. I found shelves including chicken to be fully stocked at Trader Joe’s. Not sure if you have thar store nearby. My daughter found chicken at the Target Superstore. It’s an expedition to find what we need sometimes these days!

No Trader Joe’s near us. Vince found thighs at Aldi today. I can use that for Rita’s food. He said there only had about 6 packages of thighs – nothing else.

I was at Aldi’s this afternoon. They had 2 packages of thighs. No other chicken. I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to seeing empty shelves.

I feel bad for the stores. They need those shelves full to be able to make the profit they need to make plus, I’m sure people are irate with them and they can’t do anything about it.
They had several packages of thighs at the Joplin Aldi today and that was it. It is crazy.

Not much chicken here in Western PA, either. I was at the store a few days ago and my sister-in-law wanted chicken. They had a few packages of thighs, a couple of breasts, and one of tenderloins. A package of 3 breasts was more than $17!!! Granted, they were good-sized, but $17+ for 3 chicken breasts is ridiculous!!!

I’ve seen our shelves without chicken from time to time too. The big thing now is the lack of distilled water. No one has any and no one can tell me when they will get some in. My son uses it for his bipap. Fortunately I’ve always had extra on hand but I was concerned enough that I went on Amazon and ordered some. Paid more for it than normal but this is a must have item and since no one can tell me when they will get more I felt that ordering was needed…having enough for several months without having to run around and my peace of mind. To me, peace of mind is everything…lol

Thanks for that warning. Vince uses it in his bipap too. I just checked and our Walmart actually has it in stock but the price has gone for 96 cents to $1.12. Not expensive but something else that’s gone up in price.
