I’ve never liked Hamburger Helper but I do like Tuna Helper. It’s one of those things I would often fix when Vince was out of town or had dinner meetings and I was eating alone. A salad and Tuna Helper and I’m good!
Last night after Chad, Nicole and Addie left, Vince said he was hungry. It was close to 6 p.m. and neither of us drive after dark, plus . . I’m kinda in quarantine through Sunday. I named off the leftovers and I said “We do have Tuna Helper”. He looked at me like I’d lost my mind. I told him I actually like it and if he wanted it, I’d fix it and eat some but I wasn’t going to fix it just for me.
I keep it in my emergency food supplies because all it takes is water, milk, butter, tuna and the contents of the box. We always have plenty of tuna and I could use canned milk or boxed milk if I didn’t have fresh milk. It’s super quick to fix too.
I fixed the Cheesy Tuna variety (or something like that). I told Vince . . if you use Cajun Redhead seasoning, it takes like a restaurant cajun dish. That may have been a bit of a stretch but he used the seasoning and said it was good!
I wasn’t surprised he liked it because he likes most everything but I was kinda surprised he was willing to try it.

Did I miss why you are “kind of in quarantine”?

Yum! I haven’t made Tuna Helper in forever. Now, I want some! We used to love the Tetrazzini.

My mother never made tuna helper growing up but I like it! I make it occasionally even if it’s just for me. I didn’t make it for our family when the kids were small, so I’m not surprised that it’s not a favorite for my son. He loves tuna fish or fish in general but not made this way…lol

I would imagine that Tuna Helper made with canned chicken would be good as well.

It can. It mentions that on the package. These days, it’s easier to get tuna than it is to get chicken. It’s crazy that chicken has been hard to find in the stores here.

I used to buy tuna helper all the time. I guess with the two of us, there were just too many leftovers. Pat is not good about eating those unless it is homemade stew or roast. Spoiled as a child!!

I had forgotten about tuna helper! I haven’t had that in probably 25 years… it wasn’t something David or the kids enjoyed so I didn’t fix it much. Now I’m off to add that to my next Walmart order. ?
