Yesterday I did about as much ripping as I did stitching. At one point Addie and I were working on her spelling words. That seems like it should be pretty simple . . write each word five times. Nope, not simple at all. I was stitching. She was supposed to be writing. I’d love over and she was staring into space. Are you writing Addie? I was. Have you finished? No. Why aren’t you writing? I don’t know. I’m just not a good speller.
I would tell her – you can do anything you want to do. If you want to be a good speller, practice your spelling words. Learn why some words are spelled the way they’re spelled. Sound them out and figure out why some words are not spelled the way they sound. The sooner you’re finished . . the sooner you can do what you want to do.
Kids can definitely wear you down.
Chad and Nicole came to get her – got here about 6 p.m. I thought I’d get a lot of stitching done but . . not so much.
I did stitch 8.5 hours today but some of that time was supervising the spelling lessons so I didn’t get as much done as I could have but . . spending time with Addie or cross stitching . . you know what will always win . . Addie!
On Thy Love Divine, I stitched the vine all the way to the bottom of the left. If I could stitch today without making mistakes, I could finish the vine – only the bottom and a bit up the right side is left to be done. I have a few leaves on the left side and a couple on the right side that weren’t stitched and I need to go back and do those.
Then, there are a lot of . . I’m not sure what . . flowers maybe that go along the vine. According to the chart, they should be orange. I kinda wish they weren’t orange and I could change them but there’s so little orange in the project and if I don’t make those orange, the rest of the orange stitching is going to look rather unplanned so I guess I’ll go with the orange.
This project was started in April, 2021 and it was maybe the third or fourth project I had started. If I were starting it now, I’d revamp all the colors. But . . I will finish it. Because I love the words, I’ll love this piece and I’ll probably always look at it and remember how afraid I was starting it . . silk thread for the first time, 40 count linen for the second time. I was still here by myself. The house had sold but hadn’t closed yet. Vince was trying so hard to get everything packed and I felt like I should go and help but he didn’t want me to come. Such a crazy time and the words on this helped give me strength to get through that time.
I also got my one length done on the redwork project.
The whole time I was stitching the first row of letters, I was thinking “I can’t wait to get to the prettier letters. These are so boring!” Be careful what you ask for! The second row takes forever! Also, one strand doesn’t stitch many letters. I actually had a bit of the floss on a needle from the first row so I stitched the A with that, then added a full length and got the B and C stitched, and just a bit of the D. I almost trashed the little bit that was left after the C but . . it is silk thread and I didn’t want to waste it so I did those few stitches on the D.
Today I’ll work on the border of Thy Love Divine and use the one strand on the redwork project. I’m chomping at the bit to start Addie’s St. Patrick’s Day project but . . not yet!!

This is going to be so pretty. The second row reminds me of my Calligraphy. Did Vince ever get started on the Calligraphy?
