Sorry . . I originally said sewing room in the title. Every time I’ve typed it today, I’ve typed sewing room. Thought I was catching them and fixing them but . . guess not all of them!
Vince got the Baker’s Racks put together and ready to use. Within a couple of hours of them being delivered, he stopped what he was doing and set them up.
This is so perfect! The things in here are all the things I love using but don’t want to store in the kitchen all the time. Some of them are on shelves in the garage that are now blocked by “stuff” that Vince keeps bringing over from the storage building.
On the very top, the weird looking thing is the Maxam chopper/grater. I love that thing but it takes up so much room because of the legs. I can’t tell you how many times I’m grating cheese or chocolate and I think . . the Maxam chopper would be so perfect . . but it’s too much trouble to dig it out. Now, I can just reach up there, grab it, get it down, take it to the kitchen, which is right off the sun room, use it and put it back.
I’ve already mentioned that the pressure cookers make too much steam go up under my upper cabinets and I have no countertop without cabinets above it where there’s an electric plug. Both pressure cookers are going in there now – meat for enchiladas in one and beans in the other.
The old Cuisinart. That was a gift in 1979 and it still works just fine. I really probably don’t need it and the Maxam but I’m not going to get rid of either and I use both. The empty spot is for the Bosch mixer when it gets found.
There’s more cast iron that will go on the bottom shelf. I see a cast iron skillet on the middle shelf that I just stuck there before stacking larger cast iron on the bottom. There are two more Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers (stovetop) that are still packed so I’ll put those next to the two that are on the bottom shelf.
That setup is so perfect and I’m so glad we thought of that.
The funny thing is that when we moved to Texas (August, 2011), it took til February, 2012 to find the Bosch mixer. In this post, Vince came waltzing into the sewing room with it and I was so happy to see it. Now, it’s been since April, 2021 and we still haven’t found the Bosch mixer. Vince said “It may be in the back of my truck.” Really? Can we go look?? On the other hand . . “it may be still in the storage building.” He said he has seen a box that said “mixer” on it . . but isn’t real sure where. It’s somewhere and we’ll find it some day.

That looks wonderful and it was nice of Vince to get those shelves assembled for you. Of course, he is probably looking at the empty space in the garage to take over for his stuff. Heck, give him the upper shelves in the kitchen for all of his snacks!
Is that your iron pizzelle maker hanging on the right shelving unit? It kinda looks like mine, which I need to find.
Some suggestions – if the stuff in the lower shelves get too dusty from going in and out to the deck, you could make some “curtains”. Have the fabric hooked on the sides, then an amount to cover the front can be hooked to cover or returned to the sides. It would take some grommets and clips to get it working. Just an idea. You may need to find some fabric…just kidding.
The other idea would be to get some power strips that can be attached to the wall or the shelving at your height. Then, it is a lot easier to plug/unplug things vs trying to bend down to the wall plug. And, you could turn off all items with the switch on the strip which would be safer during storms. I recently got some power strips that came with screws and tape so you could attach the strip to a wall.
Of course the next thing to get is the matching industrial style cart on wheels. There is one on Amazon with a wood top and three baskets. It could fit in the corner and would be so useful…. I actually have that in my quilt room as a mini cutting table. Of course, it is buried under projects and stuff, but it was a good idea at the time.

BTW – I did order the pattern, cloth and floss for the stitch along. I called and asked about the additional cloth and floss for the other two designs and then opted to buy. If I don’t fall back in love with cross stitching, you’ll get the rest of the stuff.
I also started blogging again, so if you do any progress link-ups, I am ready.

Please fall back in love with it!
You can always leave your link in the comments. I’ll have to approve it but that won’t take long. I approve all comments with links because some crazy stuff tries to sneak in.

In Texas, things got gritty and dusty inside the cabinets so I’m in the habit of rinsing everything out before using it. Some things I wipe out with a damp cloth and some things I put under running water so no need for curtains. We have a whole house surge protector so I don’t worry about the storms.
The only thing I might get is a narrow drawer unit that I could put between the two baker’s racks. I have something specific in mind. If I could find that, I’d get that. I don’t really see the need for a rolling cart. Once you step out of the sun room, you’re in the kitchen/breakfast area. That’s all wood floors and I don’t like rolling things across them plus it’s only maybe 6 steps to the countertop and 4 steps to the breakfast table. I’ll take the insert out of the pressure cooker, bring them to the kitchen, fill them, then take them back to the cooker. I had two going today and that worked fine. Most everything else (the food processor, grater, etc., I’ll bring into the kitchen to use.

Love your new set up! Is your kitchenaid out on the kitchen counter?

I have an appliance garage in the kitchen and it stays in there.

Does that Maxam cut up dried fruit and/or tough root veggies like turnips and raw sweet potatoes? I can do the veggies in the food processor, but it’s worthless for the fruit.

It looks great!

I got a new KitchenAid food processor. I wish I would have saved my money, i love my old Cuisinart is so much more. And I think it is easier to clean!

Those old Cuisinarts are hard to beat. I keep thinking it can’t last much longer but it just keeps on working.
