Y’all, I’m so sorry. That’s how life is with me . . I don’t finish one thought before the next thought takes over. Poor Vince.
Then it was almost midnight last night when I read a comment asking what Fed Ex brought and I was thinking “Oh, crud! I didn’t finish what I was going to say!”
So . . I was on the phone with the appliance store and the Fed Ex guy drove up. I was going to walk out and get my packages because all my little boxes I had ordered for floss storage were out for deliver. By the time I got off the phone with the appliance guy, I totally forgot about the Fed Ex guy coming (who would have guessed . . I got sidetracked and forgot something!) An hour or so later, I took Rita out. The Fed Ex guy (all the delivery folks really) usually leaves packages at the front door but when I take Rita out, I usually go out the side door. I went out the side door with her and when I turned the corner by they garage, it looked like the guy had left the entire truck full of boxes. Vince was in the back yard working and I told him “Come see this!”
There was a huge box that the Ebay mixer came in. I had ordered three rather large boxes of puppy pads. You never know when you can’t get something and the last thing I want to be without with Rita is puppy pads. I think in Speck’s 16 years, he never once used a puppy pad but we keep them down in Rita’s little “fence” and if she has to go and we’re not within hearing distance when she lets us know, she will pee on the pad. Gross but . . it is what it is with her.
So, a big box with the mixer, three large boxes of puppy pads, four smaller boxes with my floss containers in them. They were packaged six containers to a box. Then there were two large boxes of light bulbs Vince had ordered because Home Depot didn’t have them in stock and four of our five dining room lights had burned out and we were about to have to start eating by candlelight. I had ordered dry beans from Vitacost and they were delivered. It was a massive pile of boxes.
But the mixer . . that’s where I was going with this story . .
My mixer looks exactly like this one. Same color, same size, same model. Mine was made in 1985 and this one was made in 1986. I think 1986 is the last year Hobart made mixers for Kitchenaid but I’m not 100% sure about that.
This mixer looks like it has never been used. It sound so good – so quiet, no whining, no sound hardly at all. When Vince ordered the two mixers of Ebay, he said “Maybe one of these will work and you can use that one instead of yours. I told him “I want MY mixer!” How’s that for a 2 year old response? As soon as I saw this one and heard it running, I said “I want THAT mixer!” It also has the partial cover for the bowl that you could get separately. I never got it and I get frustrated sometimes when stuff goes flying and gets on my clothes or the walls so I’m happy to have that. Plus, it has a full cover for the bowl so you can cover whatever you have, and stick the whole bowl in the fridge.
OK . . there’s the rest of that story! 🙂

How Wonderful!! Of Course you want THAT Mixer!! Thank Vince over and over again every time you use it. So smart of him to find it for you!! Encourage him to chuck the one he opened up, hope the second one he ordered is good enough for parts.

He has my old one working again but there’s something not right so he ordered a couple of parts for it. He thinks it will be good as new soon. With mixers that age, it doesn’t hurt to have a backup.

I have that same mixer and it is still going strong!

Great that you love the new mixer and wonderful that you will have back ups!! It is weird what is missing off the shelves in one store but available in others! I did my main grocery shopping at the military commissary the other day and they had no half and half and shelves were bare in spots all over the store…especially in the bagged salads. I needed color catchers too and they were out. Went to another market and found those items so apparently it’s the various suppliers to the individual stores. Thankful I can still get what I need but it’s starting to feel like how it was at the beginning of the pandemic.

The bagged salads may be the issue with recalls. We took 6 bags back to the store and got refunds because they were all on the recalled list.
That’s what makes me wonder – one area will say they have no “this” and then the next person says “We have tons of that and no “this” and someone else says “We have plenty of that . . it’s crazy.

Haha thanks for ending that story Judy

I have a mixer like that and just love it! My mom bought it for me after I graduated high school. It has served me well all these years. On another note, maybe you cover the entire area but at least Rita is going on the puppy pads. She is blessed to have you and Vince to take care of her.

…I’m so glad you have a mixer you like. I love both my Bosch mixers and wouldn’t trade them for anything different. Maybe you can whip up some chocolates in your new one. 😉
